Circle cutter...like so
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Olfa-Circl...i_sku=15407946 You should be able to find something similar at most craft stores, hobby shops, big box home improvement stores, hardware stores etc. -rocky b |
Score the wheel wells with an x-acto knife then fold at the score line and the lexan should snap and peel the scrap piece out.
If you are afraid to try this. ask someone to show you. It is very easy once you do it once or twice. |
I just use a pair of curved lexan scissors, cost about 6 bucks from any hobby store.

Wheel arches
I use the cap from the can of motor spray, if you can use an x-acto to score it that works even bette:tire: I find placeing the body on the edge/corner of a table and the cap as a template, use an x-acto or marker then cut out with body scissors.

Some bodies, like HPI, have a center point mark which works great for the circle cutters (have one and it works great), but I still do some minor trimming at the edges with an exacto knife.
For the bodies that don't have a center point mark I try to find something that matches the wheel opening diameter, like a cap from a spray can, and use that to trace around with the exacto knife. Never really had good luck cutting wheel openings with curved lexan scissors myself. Mark |

I used to use a circle cutter too but it takes the top of the arch too high and makes the body crack on the front guards. Using scissors is the best option, cut a circle about the size of the rim, then widen the sides so that it doesn't scrub. I'm actually terrible at this but I had an experienced painter cut my last arches and this is how he did it, they look great, don't catch, and the body is strong.

A circle cutter is the only way to go. I use this.
