I tried, the car just isn't a competetive car unless the drivers are very new and cannot drive. It might make a tolerable spec car, but the durability is an issue as the plastic Tamiya cars tend to consume themselves.

No matter how much hop up you can throw into a TL-01, there is no way you can compete with a Yoke.......all the Yoke driver has to do is change something small or add something and he'll own you all over again.

Now a Yoke vs. a Evo III or IV......the Yoke will have a problem beating them, drivers skill will definetly be a factor.

If you take a read of the TL01 build up article at the Tamiya website....I think you could build a VERY capable TL01 but like I teach to all our clubs' new drivers......."Speed isn't anything unless you can get it around the track" !!!!!

Default thanks guys for the advice

I just want to beat those pro level car with a non-pro level car. would it be nice if I can beat them with a non- pro kit.
'Cuz its quite normal yokes beating yokes, TC3,...etc

thanks to your comment guys.

I tried beating the best lap time at our local track and the closes that i got is +11 sec.

I just love my TL-01, 'cuz its the first RC that i got given to me by my grand-dad before he died. i just want to put i leagacy in it.

God speed!!!

i love you idea, but i really don't think it will work out properly unless people driving at ur club is not that good. May be instead of using a entry level car and hop it up, may be try a old but good racer to show them that you don't need the latest and the best to win!

I had a TL01 as a first car and found it very top heavy. Would flip easily.

My personal experience is that the TL 01 is a pretty difficult car to drive, therefore I felt that it will be a real disadvantage for you to use a TL 01 to prove your point, maybe can use some other cheaper but easier handling cars to try.
Yo sty! (sty is the other person who got me into this hobby)

Anyways, I witnessed it myself. The driver drove the TL 01 pretty fast. Btw, he is a good driver. I believe if u throw any car to a good driver, he/she can drive that car well.

cheers!

For $140.00 bucks the T-Spec is hard to beat. Plus you a motor and battery .

I read that article too regarding building capable TL01. If you read carefully, the TL01 driver was very good driver while the other drivers were lame drivers eventhough they were equipped with faster / better car.....

If those drivers are as good as him, there is no way TL01 could beat TA04, TB Evo3, TRF 414, TRF 415 chassis. Those graphite chassis have more advantage in these aspects: low cg, better gearing ratio, better steering linkage, better suspension arms, better weight distribution, better transmission.

Btw.... tell me if someone really dare to race TL01 in GT1 class at upcoming TCS 2005.
