26 Mhz Crystals

I'VE HEARD THAT AIRTRONICS IS COMING OUT WITH A NEW LINE OF CRYSTALS ON 26 MHZ.THEY WILL BE COMPATABLE WITH THE 27 MHZ RADIOS AND WILL ADD 15 NEW CHANNELS.HAS ANYONE ELSE HEARD THIS,OR KNOW WHEN OR WHERE THEY WILL BE AVAILABLE?THIS 27 MHZ IS GETTING AWFUL CROWDED.

Sounds doubtful.
The frequency bands either side of 27Mhz will already be allocated to a use other than rc. Governments can charge a lot of money for licenses to use that bandwidth. Rc isnt too high on the priority list generally.
In Europe they have decided to allow cb users to use 27mhz too which means there is loads of interference on 27mhz now.

KO uses 40 mhz radios, dunno if they are legal here in AZ, but you go glitch free all day with it :)

As stated, the FCC deturmines what frequencies are used for what purpose. Even if a mfr may wanted to come out with more or new frequencies, it is not up to them. We have all the freq that we can get and there are many bigger groups (with more influence and money) that would like to have what we currently use. There won't be any 26 band...

I don't know about 26 MhZ crystals, but some people here run "half frequencies" which are basically the 27 MhZ channels they use in Asia. Their channel "1" is below our channel "1", their channel "2" is between our channel "1" and "2", etc. We have used them with other people using the channels close to them and have not had any interference problems. We were worried that channel "1½" would interfere with channel "1" and "2", but it didn't. These crystals are from KO. I don't know if anyone else makes them or not.

I just learnt from my Futaba manual that the French, swedes and finns are allowed to use certain 26mhz channels - but no-one else.

on my KO ex1-mars,i running it with 26.895Mhz crystal...
does tat count as 26Mhz crytals???...

so far,i have not seen any1 using 26Mhz similiar to mine...hmmm,...

for KO to use 40Mhz,there's a need 2 get the 40Mhz module if the supply 1 isn't on 20Mhz but 27Mhz...

sosidge 05-23-2002 02:35 AM

I think 26.895 is brown/channel 1 - still classed as 27mhz.
