Rest in peace, Mike Reedy

Just hearing news through that Mike Reedy has passed away. I think its a bit of an understatement to say that we have lost a legend in the electric RC world.

snoopyrc 05-17-2011 07:55 AM

Sad to hear this. This guy was definitely a huge contribution to RC racing as we know it. What a loss.

Paul L 05-17-2011 08:02 AM

This is sad and i hope that everyone remembers forever what Mike has done for the sport. Many people and companys are where they are today due to Mike's nature and success. Mike always had a great outlook on Rc and his good nature never went un noticed to me.

mackin 05-17-2011 08:04 AM

I had known Mike since the early 80s when he first came to the indoor champs. I knew he had been sick for a long time. May he rest in peace.

Eddie Garrison 05-17-2011 08:20 AM

Sorry to hear the news of Mike Reedy passing away. He was a true legend in this hobby and he will be missed by all.

I spent many hours picking his brain (back in the day) about motors and just the industry itself. He taught me a great deal and it was fun just to talk to him.

Rest In Piece Mike Reedy, you will be missed.

T. Deguzman 05-17-2011 08:25 AM

July 31, 2000 early in the morning. I show up for my first day of work at AE. Who unlocks the door to let me in? Mike Reedy. And I'm thinking holy crap it's the legendary Mike Reedy opening the door for me. I didn't know whether to say 'good morning' or try to get an autograph. Nicest guy in the RC industry. We're gonna miss him. May he rest in peace.

Steve Weiss 05-17-2011 08:26 AM

RIP Mike,

You will be missed greatly

Rich Trujillo 05-17-2011 08:30 AM

I was so lucky to spend tons of time with Mike when I was the Team Manager for Team Losi. Even though we were on opposite sides of the track, Mike was always great to hang with, share life stories and just flat out talk racing. He will be missed.
Rest In Peace Mike

Rich

I remember reading about Mike Reedy back in the 90s through RCCA, tried the legendary "Mr." series of off road motors in my buggies, and have never been happier

RIP dear Sir...thank you...

To Mike's family, our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Brian and I will never forget all the fun we had when Brian ran for Mike and Team Associated way back in the 90's. Mike was a great ambassador to this hobby he so dearly enjoyed. Rest in pease, Mike....from Brian and Dave Berry.

Andrew Swanson 05-17-2011 08:45 AM

I was blessed to be a part of the Reedy family during my RC career. Mike was an all around amazing person. He will truely be missed.

RIP MIKE.

Drain Bamged SR 05-17-2011 08:45 AM

RIP Mike you wil be missed.:(

TPhalen 05-17-2011 08:48 AM

While I was working over at Team Associated I had the pleasure of dealing with Mike every day. The stories I could tell are numerous...that was one funny guy! And while not on the same page as some, he would always come out with something that blew everyone away. He just knew his stuff.

I remember his pit space at big races was filled with team motors...and he would sit there all day and true the comms, meticulously solder on new brushes, tweak the springs and adjust the timing. That was his world...and he was the man.

Good times and fond memories. You will be missed, Mr. Reedy. It was a pleasure knowing you.

SlowerOne 05-17-2011 09:02 AM

Rest well Mike, knowing you have left behind so many people whose lives are better for having known you. If there was an RC Hall of Fame, yours would be name Numero Uno on the wall. It was a pleasure to say I knew you, although I could never repay the time and support you gave me in my time in IFMAR. Thanks Mike, rest in peace.

gwilli2001us 05-17-2011 09:04 AM

I met Mike in 1975 when electric was really in it's infancy, he also built one of my first .21 nitro engines for 1/8 onroad racing. One of the most pleasant gentlemen I ever met and a true pioneer of R/C car racing. My condolences to the Reedy and Associated families, he will be remembered and missed.

academygaz 05-17-2011 09:16 AM

I think its fair to say that everyone who posts on our On-Road section of RCTech will have run Reedy motors at some point. I loved the power and driveaility of the Ti-series modifieds.

RIP Mike.
