How would you change the gearing with such a belt system??? Anybody switched to 64p gears all over yet ????

not sure how that would throw of ratios.
to run two belts will force you to run the motor backwards.....

Seems to work great for EVERY TC on the market and the SC104x4. It has been proven time and time again that belts are more efficient under power than gears .

You change the pinion.

you would have to custom make a dif gear, two single gears and a multiple gear idler. good luck with that. Even if you could you would still end up with 3 power transfers and four bearings. i have dropped that down to 2 power transfers and two bearings.

now with bearing tensioner, which really needs to be on the bottom but I am not going to mess with that until i know if this is a worthwhile mod. If it is i will make a new motor mount plate.

What final are you running with this mod . and have you noticed more bottom end / top end .

wouldn't the motor then rotate forward with the car? Im just going off the theory of why we run our Xfactory cars with a 4 gear transmission. The torque of the motor should work with the car to create more traction. on direct drive cars you don't have a choice, but it seems like it may be worth a try on this car.
it would be the same reason many dirt oval guys like to use 4 gear transmissions as apposed to 3 when having a mid motor 2wd chassis.

Dif is 39t, shaft pinion is 17which equals 2.29

shaft pulley is 15t motor pinion is 14 which equals 1.07

2.29x 1.07 so FDR with the 14pinon is 2.45

no track time yet so not sure how it it "feels" yet.

Right now the motor spins opposite of the car. If you convert the dif assembly with a belt it will have to spin opposite of what it is now, not that that is a bad thing and may actually be better but not all speed controls have the ability to do reverse rotation and if your sensored you cant just swap wires.

Thats a good idea , next step is sourcing out a short belt and dif pinion. Lets see if any of this is worth the time first!

Are you sure? Then why every DD car have gears not belt? In TC belts are used because of no torque steer... Maybe gears are little less efficient under big torque, but for higher speeds with less torque are more efficient... I think biggest problem of FGX is big module, with m0.4 or 48dp on all gears it would be much better... But it's only my opinion, let's see how will be your belt drive on track

Because of motor rotation. Belts have nothing to do with TQ steer man, you are confused with shaft drive. Why would belt and gears have different TQ steer effects, the layout is the same. Yes 64p gears would be a much better option than what we have but its unlikely that we will ever have that option. Belt is better than what we have available right now.

I didn't say that belts have something to do with torque steer - they don't, that's why they're used altough they've worse efficiency than shaft drive.

I think smaller module is possible - You can use gears, for example, from Tamiya TA06 - 52T diff gear, 25T (i think) pinion. FGX have differential mounted in excentric mounts, why don't use them? Or it's not possible? I don't have FGX yet, but i want to try it.
