[3Racing FGX custom made - belt drive transmission...please M. 3R, base your FGX 2015 on mine!!!!]

Teaser

Here are some short explanations:
- Exotek EFX V2 chassis
- 4 independant wheels (Associated RC18T shocks, front medium 3Racing springs and rear Tamiya F201 "olive" springs, 2000cst)
- fully adjustable front end based on some Awesomatix parts (like FCB in front), Tamiya F104 front uprights in order to mount "conventionnal" wheels, rear wheels stay specific to the FGX, Xray X1 steering system
- revised geometry: 266mm wheelbase (adjustable), front width: 185mm, rear width: 190mm, 5mm ground clearance,...
- wheight decrease (1,1kg RTR vs 1,25kg before) and lowered CoG
- Xray X1 electronic layout inspired: longitudinal servo position, 2S LiPo transversal mount (IP 3500 100C Slim Shorty)
- compact and simplified rear bulkhead (in comparison to my first conversion) which implies more weight rearward (the battery is remoted by 1,5cm), belt drive transmission (instead of pinions) (Spec-R 34t gear diff from Xray T2, 15 theets central pulley); internal ratio is 2.26, final ratio is 2.26 (70t spur gear, 70t motor gear!)
- Serpent adjustable wings
- Team Orion VST2 Pro Stock 17.5t motor (I'm waiting for a 21.5t motor to comply with most regulations); Ride R1 tyres
- ...

Who said 1/10 F1 couldn't be realistic

Regards,
G-rem

It would be nice if they would give the option to go tout 14mm hex rears and 5mm bearing front axles.

This is the biggest one I could find, from Tuning Haus. I tried bigger center pulley instead of 15t in order to use smaller pinions but there are too big in diameter and touch either the motor can, either the diff...

It could be easily done but they also will have to make new rear arms because of the rear width (190mm and it can't be reduced, unfortunately...)

Does anyone know what's going on with this kit?

It seems like the original FGX is no longer around, but I can't find any clear info on the 2015 model either.

What's the general mood on it in 2015?

I hope they keep making this kit... I need another one. Can't believe how fast and well it drives. I was just running a 1/16th scale 2s and my 13.5 SP setup from my Cup Racer... so much faster than I would have guessed.

This is my first time driving it and yes... I installed the IFS before driving it cuz I love IFS.

Default FGX build

Hi all,

I bought an FGX some 3 years ago with a load of upgrades which were available at the time.
I have just decided to go ahead and build it??!!

So, to get some (alot!!) Of info' on the car and it's development over these years I have set about reading this whole thread from start to finish.
From it's release to the astonishing G-rem car!!

I am on page 161 just about at the point where the IFS was to be brought out.
All very interesting reading the development both by professional's, company's and driver's all banding together to bring this car to what it finally became.

I have not even started the build to be honest. I do look forward to getting started and realizing a most realistic aswell as a very raceable F1 car.

Regards
BM

The original car needs seriously updating that's for sure.
I understand 3 Racing are working on a new car but as to timeline I have no idea.

We can only hope they incorporate some of G-rem, tqrcracing, Mantisworx and other's idea's into their new design.
I feel, for saying it's aim is to such a niche market, they, meaning us paying customer's would all be willing to pay a little more then the original's $104.00 price tag on a new car if it had quality material's and incorporated at least some if not all of the idea's people have come up with in this thread.

Time will only tell.

Regards

Stepped-nose body on a hybrid Tamiya-FGX chassis.

The lower-deck incorporates the sidepod platforms, providing a better handling of the car.

Cheers!

What are these cars worth with the mckune carbon chassis kit, aluminum steering rack, aluminum rear bulkhead, motor mount and suspension mount and rear hubs/upright? Also has a hitec digital servo in it. Has several sets of rubber tires and some parts and springs. Honestly i have not looked at the extra parts so im not sure what all is there. LoL

Hi JC

So pleased you decided to dig out the ol FGX hybrid car.
I have just finished reading this whole thread.

Looks as though some sort of belt drive would be the way to go with this car.
I am going to start the build of my FGX 2016 FIS front and rear car very soon.

Inspired by yourself, GRem. Mantisworx Mr. Lightfoot and other's on here. Not least TQ RC Racing.

Wish me luck.

Regards
