Thanks for the feedback. I don't mind modifying it, I have a full machine shop to work in. I just need to know which pack is "close" to fitting and is worth the effort.

I got a smokin' closeout deal on one of these chassis and I want to use it to learn about brushless/LiPo (I'm a Nitro guy) and belt drive 1/10 on-road so it's worth a bit modding to make it work.

It won't be a bit of modding, it will be alot of it. The car was never designed to have Lipos in them. If you look at the bulkheads they are rounded to except Nimh's. You will not get a hard case lipo in there but there are soft pack lipos that will work and they come from Protek or Maxamps.

Well I was able to fit an Orion 3400 hardcase Lipo into my JRX-S and it didn't take that much modding. There is no reduction in the functionality of the car and the battery can be removed easily.

How do you hold the battery in? Tape or using the battery tray? I've been thinking about doing the same to mine, but haven't had to time to look carefully into it as of yet... now it looks like I've got a bit of motivation...

Look at the pic from the bottom of the car and you can see how he is holding it in. Chassis and part of the battery tray.

Oops... my bad... Vision is getting worse with age! I would presume it would be secure enough to take a couple of hits?

Yes I use the chassis and part of the original battery tray. I machined the front part of the tray (now just a tab) to put a radius in that matched the battery case. there was no point in the original tray for a hard case LiPo.

I also use a couple of zip ties to secure the battery to the upper chassis plate "just in case". But in reality it's very secure just like that.

What doesn't show is I also made a plastic rub strip that I double back taped to the bottom of the battery case.

I forgot to ask, it will still drop out of the bottom right? track requires lipo sacks. so has to be removable.
