Hi All
Well did the 2nd round of the of the STCC (Southern Touring Car Champions) this weekend at Bedworth England. here is a link if you guys are interested for lap times and final standing etc http://pasadena.directrouter.com/~cl...=85&Itemid=173
I had my best ever meeting at the weekend, as was so happy with the car. I used Ben Rayments set-up (Ben came 1st and I 2nd) he ran the smallest anti roll bar on the front (so did i) which helped the car from diging in the corner, and drove with great corner speed. I seemed to be able to carry the speed up the striaght (going up hill) and taking the right hand sweeper full chat, where as many other cars could NOT do that.
Thank you Ben for a TERRIFIC setup and will stay by the Losi JRX-S I am one happy chappy
I then raced at West London yesterday and got into the A, final and came 8th overall there ............ L
Cheers Malc THE CAN MAN

Hi Nial
Here's Bens (J A M I N) SET-UP

Front:

50wt Oil
15lb Spring
56 Piston
White bladder
2 O-rings above bladder
2mm droop
4 degree caster
1 degree camber
41T spool
.100" shim under high roll center
diff high
middle hole on shock tower
position 5 on camber link - JR Camber link mod, rear tower on the front see:

http://www.rctech.net/forum/showpos...postcount=10792

and

http://www.rctech.net/forum/showpos...postcount=10354

-

Rear:
35wt Oil
12.5lb spring
56 piston
White bladder
2 O-rings above bladder
3mm droop
1.5 degree camber
.040" shim under low roll center
diff high
2 degree inboard toe-in
hole 2 on shock tower
hole 5 camber link

any ballast weight at rear of car (as close to the diff centre line as poss.)

The only thing different to my car from bens is that I have removed all the posts from the rear Deck and pushed all the electrics to the rear of the car nearly touching the the rear wish bone pin support block, I had to make another hole for the aerial about 1/2 inch (just for you PookyT no mm )just in front of the receiver. Car was planted, we ran on Corally SSB's loads of grip. On the Saturday I have never heard rubber tires squeal like these baby's did, but was colder on the Sunday, only 4 degrees wind factor. If you are unsure of anything Im sure Ben would help you as he is a Losi Team driver, but if not I will do my best.
With regards to the Scottish GP unfortunately NOT but will be supproting it by giving the venue a Voucher for any Cool-Can-Fan they may win in the raffle.
Cheers Malc THE CAN MAN

thanks malcolm, i will deffinatly give it a try, what shims do i use for the role centers? is it the ones that come with the pivot blocks? if so how do you get .040 and .100 shims as they all look the same thickness. also how stif did you make the thin anti role bar, were the linkages flush with the start of the bar or in a little bit? Shame about the scottish gp.

No probs Malcolm. Glad it is working for you aswell, always a good sign.

Car was fun to drive sunday, the power slides round that fast left hander looked good, but was not really the fastest way round! LOL!

Must admit, I really enjoyed driving the Bedworth track. Quite technical in places, and you really had to stand hard on the brakes at times...

Hi Nial
The shims are the ones in the kit, they do come in different thicknesses, but you will need to use 2 of the thickest ones together under the front and rear blocks keeping the hinge pin level, so you may have to purchase some more,
The thin role bar was used, and we had the bit on the end 6mm in from the end of the bar I had also forgot to mention we both used the spool (first time for me with a spool, sure does pull round those corners)
We used the roll bar for a specific part of the track at the Bedworth track. its the shicane towards the middle part of the track, yet at the back of the track but took it off for West London yesterday, as West london is more flowing than Bedworth
(heres a link for the track so you can see what I mean)

Bugger, just noticed the link above is the old track layout oh well never mind

brakes, what are brakes
Yea have to admit, you coming up to me and congratulating me on a second place in the second A, from your goodself made me real proud, for someone as good as you to say that.
Why'd you go early and put me under presure on the last run as I was then unaficially on pole you swine and binned it on the first corner so as every one else would use me as there brakes, still least I got another 9 laps in before my ball stud got ripped out of my steering arm and was getting back from 10th to about 4th when that happened. Still was a great day for the Losi eh, you never know sponsorship maybe looming for the old man yet I will have a chat with the 'Bald Eagle' on that score
Cheers Malc THE CAN MAN

Well done Ben & Malc

Are you using the rear tower as standard, or in front of the rear bulkhead?

I'm gonna put that setup on my car now as my starting point for outdoors. Just need to finalise my indoor one and get me some horsepower and I'll be sorted

Oli

Yea rear tower on the front car seemed slow to drive, but when i looked at my lap times and had put that thin roll bar on the front, i had gained 7 seconds from my best time without it.
