The JRX-SO has the Xtreme JRX-S LTO conversion which uses Trinity Cobolt fans on the forward top deck.

Well depending on how you look at it, you could say it's a copy.

Both top decks were released around the same time, it's just the Xtreme set was designed for us Oval racers.

I did find it kinda funny that both were released around the same time though, one for the on-road racers and one for the oval racers.

Thanks for the tip Randy. I believe I read that Steve Weiss said this is the equivelent of a "middle hole" on the steering knuckle, correct? May have to try this sometime...

Any other suggestions that don't require machine work? You know, for us lazy folk.

With all due respect, I designed and released this CCF way back last year and had sent one to TOD f,o,c, for him to try. and he agreed that it was a great product, he wrote to thank me on the 09-07-2005 QUOTE 'The top deck is really trick...nice job.' UNQUOTE, so why would he say this if there was already a version out there

Hi
If you were to purchase one of OUR CCF's these extra akerman holes are already inserted into the CCF INTEGRATED TOP DECK CONVERSION and definatley do make a difference to mid corner speed and have to thank BIIL & TOD for the mesurements. Our CCF ITDC has been altered slightly to accomodate the extra holes and more meat around the cut-outs, as if you try and drill the extra akermen holes in a standard top deck, you are very close to the edge of the cut-out.

I had been running the Xtreme prototype kit back in late September. There is a pic of the prototype about 100 pages back. lol

If I have offended you in any way, I do appoligize as Xtreme was not trying to "copy" your product or "steal" your design. As I stated earlier it was funny that both were released around the same time.

Thanks for the info, Malc. Does the price for the top deck on your site include shipping, or is the shipping extra? The website doesn't make it clear (unless I missed it ). This could be useful running mod outside this summer.

Steve Weiss is the creator of this mod. It is probably the easiest way to get more mid-corner steering, and it only takes a 7/64" drill bit and 5 mins to do.

That is the JRXS Oval Car of Tony Moffre. He had all the parts custom made. I used the CCF's in my front engine car last weekend.

Here's the catch, if I operate the diffs for a few moments, the notchiness goes away and the diffs become smooth again.
I know I'm missing something obvious, so here's how I build the diffs:
Sand diff rings with 400 grit
Lightly lube each diff ball with diff grease (asc silicone)
Lube the thrust bearing assembly with black grease (asc black)
Invert every other cone washer (use 5).Initially set differential fairly loose, hold 1 wheel and apply throttle for a few moments to seat the diff, then start to tighten the diff until almost no slippage is felt while holding 1 wheel and the spur gear.I've been told there are some potential issues with the old style thrust bearings (new ones are cased differently), and don't know if that could be the problem.I've never had a diff be smooth, notchy, and then smooth again.
Any thoughts?
In my experience, this is just a matter of poor diff lube. Ever notice that Losi thick lube doesn't exhibit this phenominon? Simply try a few diff lubes and you'll run across one that suits your dampening needs AND doesn't thin out when heated during a race.
