I remember reading somewhere I think, that most of the racers at the Reedy Race(?) were specifically using Tamiya rims. How are these different from other rims? How about Losi rims that come in the kit?

Racers at the "US Reedy Race" had to use RP-30GL prebuilts. Including rims marked RP. I still have a set.

Yes at the Reedy Race in Hong Kong ....... they have a bit more flex than lets say a RP rim.... and they are a little bit larger by .3mm

automater, aside from hitting a corner dot(haha), the next thing that effects your on track speed most is tire tuning. There are wheels of different materials, different thicknesses, etc to go along with the different brands and compounds of tires, inserts and ways of mounting, air holes and thier size, gluing technique, etc., all have some effect on the tire/wheel performance.
The jury is out on how much of an effect each of these things has on performance, but there is a difference.

Luckily and thank goodness for handout tires at major events! It would be tuff to compete when you would need to rent a box truck to bring a team to an event just to carry the tires, wheels and inserts for 5 drivers, hahaha........, Jim

For the S&N Novak race in 2001 Schumacher bought $1200 in tires (Sorex ands Pit), rims (Pro-line and Yokomo) and inserts (Yokomo and HPI) for 2 guys. The best tires at that event ended up being the Yokomo 139G. Only Barry and Tosolini had them. Chris gave a few to us and thats what we ran. We still have the tires we bough for that race in a box in our warehouse. All I have to say is thank God for spec tires

Yup, it was an open tire race at that time, Lemieux was the fast local guy but he had not done a lot of tire testing so all the teams bought everything they thought might work. AE ands Losi spent a lot more than us.

Spec tires have really leveled the playing field. Could you imagine going to the Nats in October and having to bring Sorex 32, 36 and 40R's, Take Off 27's, RP30, 36 and 40's, Yokomo 138 and 139G's, Powers PJ30 and 35's. Then inserts..thick, thin, outside air gap, inside air gap. Then rims...Flexy nylon, stiff ABS, tall inner ribs, low inner rims, cut out the inner ribs

No thanks!

They haven't announced the spec tire for the Nats yet but its one you are all familiar with

Actually, I'm running Brian Kinwald's setup on carpet with foams.

I'll use standard hubs again today and see what happens.

Thanks

Pooky,

Looking to obtain a set of your BK shock brackets.

Would love to have them before weekend, but if not whatever?

PM me and let me know how to pay you and I'll give you my address.

Thanks

Has the car got much body roll that you can see (at ground level)? Cos this setup has a wide spring range from Frt to Rr.... just a thought.....
