I think this would spark alot more interest in RC racing because then people would know where they stand and be able to shoot for higher position on a regular basis.

AWESOME idea!

ROAR - just do it!

gET IT DONE!

Thanks

If this could be done, THEN we would finally be on the right track. I agree with that statement 100%.

ROAR regionals are a sad affair in most places, not bringing in even a good club race full of entrants. People don't care, because there is nothing more to the race than, "just another race".

There are like 5-6 big events every year in most of the RC classes. They get all the press. Nobody really cares about the others.

I am assuming we wont hear about this until next month ? So this sounds like an 80% done deal with just the nuts and bolts details to work out ?

Anyways lets bump this up and keep it in front I definatly want to see this happen, I may actually pay dues just to do this (havent been a ROAR member for about 10 years )

giving this a bump because this is an idea that should be at the forefront in light of talk in the Festivus discussion.

Reading threw this old thread gets me pumped for if something like this was to ever happen. A actual points system with a large group gunning for one set of points. It make buying a roar member ship worth something! Bring it on!

and if national qualification were tied to it as well that would not only make being a ROAR member worth it, itd add importance (and numbers) to regional races

just realized how old this thread is. As stated before I believe it is a great idea and just the kick needed to get on road off life support Here's my added .02, constructors cup. Manufacturers could accumulate points also for a constructors championship. Include motors, esc and batteries and of course car manufacturers. Maybe I have too much F1 on the brain

So, from all of those that have posted in favor of such a system, which one of you is going to volunteer for the job?
If I could program computers it would be done already.

I like the idea of the points systems but if I understand the proposal correctly it seems there are a lot of points gained by just participating. So it's not necessarily ranking people by ability (meaning it would be a poor use to seed heats). For example if I raced a 100 times, finished last every time and scored 500 points and RacerX raced just once and won and scored 50 points it would rank me ahead of RacerX.

It seems the ranking should take into account both the Number of Participants and the sum total of all those participants points.

Maybe I'm not understanding it correctly?

I know my parents play a form of bridge that has some kind of ladder system and it's just not how you place but how good the people are you beat. I will have to ask them about it.

I think the idea is like if Mario Andretti comes out to race the Daytona 500 and beats everybody down, but only races that race, he should not be considered for the overal nascar title. If you race once a year, and have a good day, why should you be ranked #1? It's all about active racers and encouraging participation locally
