With all do respect to Orion...yes, the Brushless should be a good bit faster. I would also invest in some better packs eventually too. Voltage helps a lot with the Brushless.

sport, it should effect top speed that much rite espically if when i get this ss5800 and gear it to hit lets say 40 what the worst that could happen? it only goes 35 i'll take that gladly

See, I never worry about top speed, I worry about laptime. That's why I can't really say what the top speed would be.

http://www.teamnovak.com/Download/ac...pecgearing.pdf

i have been refering to that the whole time and it says that dont go below 6.5:1 because you will overheat. and start you gearing at around 7.3:1

i have 7.5:1 (72/24) right? so the closer i get to that 6.5:1 the faster the motor will go?

you said 7.2:1 will give me alittle more top end but do get thier i would only have to move up one tooth on the pinnion does one tooth make that much of a diffrence?

Hi dude,
Good choice with the SS5800
I'm probably the worst abuser of the BL system around, my ratio is 6.5 and below.
I run it in ambient temperatures of over 90F.
I've shorted the unit by reversing polarity for about 8 sec's

with 6.8, at first it would shut down in the middle of the pack bcos of the heat, bcos of the gearing and also the heat from the atmosphere.

But after i've installed a tiny 5V fan on top of it, it's been coooool..absolutely no shut down no problems whatsoever. I've been able to gear to 6.4. I've even tried 6.2 but it was a little too fast.

My unit is still running like a happy puppy , so WORRY NOT.

last note: I'm not gonna disclose my real name, Novak's gonna void my warranty

Yo, Lee..

6.2? wow!, so how do you find the speed compared to a modified motor? with V2 maybe? what turn is it equally to? I'm considering one, but still looking at other option. hacker, vortex etc.. but since many people says that the V2 motor is very efficient and the comm and brush last quite a long time, it made me think twice.. and do you know what other choices of BL motor we have back at MY??

it's fast but not blazingly fast,
probably close to a 16T double.
I can't afford a new V2 yet, so i can't say much. I'm still waiting for the budget version.

At M'sia i think there is still the GM Evo which is faster than nitros.
The main benefit of the novak BL is the simplicity, low maintenance and smoothness
