Default takeing part a stick pack?

i have and old radio shack stick pack that still works and i still use it for test runs etc. but i was wondering just for kicks can i take it apart and re-assemble it so its a side by side pack?

chances are the cells will need tape or somthing on them to keep them seperated, because they will be down to metal all the way around.
