If you remove the back plate on the counter it's a lot easier to swap out the battery so don't have to fiddl with trying to get the buttons through all the holes.

Yes, you do have to take the cover off. You need a 2mm allen driver.

The battery is a regular 9V - i think it's PP3 size.

i just bought one recently and i must say it's a great thing to know what your performance is on the track. out of about 30 packs that i've run, i think it's only missed 1 lap, but it could've been when i was side by side with another car beside the LCS unit, and the IR signal was blocked.
It also shows every lap, and I read it out to see if certain setup makes me consistent and if certain setup gives quicker laps at the expense of consistency.
You get the point.

The only bad thing i could think of is power consumption. Does anyone knows how much power it takes?

I have one of the Orion ones and when I go somewhere that doesn't have their practice mode going it's awesome. It works exactly as it's supposed to. It also comes in handy when you set the thing to alert you when you turn a lap below a certain time.

Worth every penny! I take about .3 secs off my laptimes every practice day I use it.
