What are you geared...? How old is the GTB?

The back end cap seems to give good consistant temperatures... while it might not be the very hottest part of the motor, most IR temp sensors will read it consistnatly.
I would also try putting a sticker of some sort on the center of the can so you can get good readings off of that as well.
You want to keep temps under 170... 160 if possible!

Hey I am just installing my new Novak 7.5r (we run 12t/7.5 limit) and just curious as I am about to go start testing and working my gear ratio's where do you measure the temps to keep under the max as I can imagine the solder posts would get hotter than the can etc....
Any help greatly appreciated

i have been geared every where. i have the older gtb. it is a year year and a half old. there were three of us that bought them at the same time and none of us could get them to run the 3.5.
my 4.5 is geared at 22pinion and 116 spur with a 1.7 internal.

Hi Steve,
Are you running 5 cell or 6 cell?
That gearing for the 4.5 seems a little high unless you're on a pretty large track.
With a 4.5 with the 12.3 mm rotor on 6 cells I generally would gear around a 9.4
With the 13.0 mm rotor on 6 cells I would gear around an 8.5.
If you run 5 cell you're going to have to gear up another two teeth from those starting gearings.
Also there were some gtb's that had "overly sensitive" temperature shut down a while back... it's possible that you and your friends have these older GTBs... if you send them in to me I can check them out and get them upgraded to the latest software version that doesn't have this temperature shut down problem.

Fred,
I'm sorry, I haven't seen your baseball... but one place people oftentimes over look is in their baseball glove!
Go check it out and let me know if you recover your prized ball!
