Hi Steve,

Will the Kinetic's casing be water resistant and dust proof?
I plan to get one if it comes here in the Philippines.

The casing will be similar in style to all of our latest ESCs which feature a tub with gasketting which helps keep moisture and debris out of the ESC.

Hi Steve

I was running the GTB in a 1S application with a Cheap 1A booster and accidently left the GTB switch ON. Well that Booster went up in smoke in 5 seconds.

I thought it was the LiPo pack that was letting loose.

All I could figure is that the Booster at 5V saw a 3.7V output of the GTB BEC and tried to balance the voltage thus pushing more current than designed for.

OR maybe the Booster went straight to Ground and the current draw was way too much.

Thoughts?

Hey Steve, how do you identify the turns in a velocity motor? I got one that I thought was an 8.5 but the site says they go to 7.5...I am trying to find out if they have some sort of colored rings or something if that sort, thanks.

Sorry about not seeing this question! Seems like this thread seems to get pushed to the back pretty quickly now with all the other activity going on this forum!

It's hard to say exactly what happened with your booster, odds are it just didn't like being back-fed power from the GTB itself. Unless you have specific saftey features built in for something like that, odds are you are going to have a problem.

Does the ESC seem to work ok now?

The Velociti series referes to the "Modified" motors of our last generation of motors, IE, 3.5-7.5. All of these motors come with black timing rings and there should be a sticker on the outside of the motor denoting what turn it is.

The SS Pro line of motors, which were the last generation of motors and looks exactly like the Velociti motors range from 8.5-21.5. The timing rings are all color-coded as well:

8.5 black
10.5 blue
13.5 orange
17.5 yellow
21.5 green

Hope this helps!

You can remove the front endbell and slide the purple ring down exposing the stator itself.

The wind should be hand-written on the stator in marker.

Otherwise, if the motor still has a serial number on it you can give me that number and I can have it checked that way.

It is ALWAYS recommended to run a capacitor, regardless of input voltage!

Aparently you have a 3.5, not an 8.5
