It depends on whether or not it is under warrantee... if it is not under warrantee the price looks to be $69 for replacement.

Also, your motor likely has surface mount capacitors to help with glitching, but a schottky diode is a different device used to protect the ESC from the voltage generated by the motor under braking or coasting.

Steve type...I was in Irvine on Wednesday afternooon for a meeting. I thought about dropping in on you guys at Novak but then I chickened out. I was worried about traffic on the 5, which turned out to be a reasonable fear...90 minutes to travel 45 miles. Awesome!

Jay, don't feel to bad about the traffic. It's part of LA. You know that LA traffic is a nightmare. On Wednesday I had to drive to Agoura Hills. 55 miles each way. I left from Compton at 2:30 in the afternoon to get back after 9:00.

Steve -- Around what timing value are the 10.5's leaving the factory with? Also, do you have any information on what timing most guys are running the motor? I have advanced mine about 5 degrees and it seems to be working really well. (larger track, decent traction, rubber touring) I know there are alot of variables, just wondering if you had a little something on timing with the 10.5?

Well, usually when I am checking timing here I use our timing station which lets us measure the actual timing of the motor in time, which translates to 1.36 mS for the 10.5 motors. I sometimes turn my motors up a little bit and when I check them again on the scope it will check out at about 1.5-1.6 mS.

To give you some idea, fully advanced timing on the motors generally translate to about 1.9 or 2.0 mS.

So another way to judge it would be to say that sometimes I turn my motor timing up to about half way of the adjustable timing allotted.

Hope this helps!

Hi Steve,

Can you damage a brushless motor by undergearing it?
