Default 8Th Scale onroad EP

hi guys, here is some Vid footage from yesterday.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkGOZM2eqCc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaG-jiY1Tbc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btYbe6JvnPg

while i am the faster car, i have a big issue. i am puffing my Intellect packs badly. damaged 3 packs beyond use yesterday. setup is 2250KV HobbyWing Speedy, gearing for the 8th is maxed geared. we are hitting 88kms on 4S
i ran 6S and had to back off half straight to get the car to turn in on the sweeper, and clocked at 125kms. why is it i am damaging my batteries so easily, i know im pushing them harder, but capacity is 2S 6200mah 60C x 2 in series. it lasts 5 mins with one warm up lap. any ideas would be greatly apreciated. thanks.

What batteries did you use?

I am planning on running IP 60C saddle pack x2 in my 966E, with CC 2650 motor.

i have converted my gas car to E. so i made a new radio tray, and have battery cases with straps off the side.so i use the 7.4V stick packs.

We have been doing quite a bit of testing with our E-Mugen stated with 4S and had both speedo and motor explosions with the speedpassion 8th scale stuff. stepped up to a Nue motor 1515-1y Tekin RX8 and also up to 5S packs and huge difference.

while we were at 4S we did install a telemetry systems and did see 120 to 140 amp draws at full throtle so it would be no wonder the Batteries would have a work out....

the 5S solution for us has made a big difference and we are shooting for 10min run times this season.

I'm picking up a Serpent 960 soon with the SP motor mount. As I don't have it, i'm not sure what battery I can shoe-horn into it, but it sounds like 5S or 6S is the only way to go, am I right?
I've seen a few 2x3S applications where the batteries are mounted on each side of the chassis, but dont like that idea a lot as it's prone to damage from impact, and also i'd assume it's a fair bit of weight hanging wayyyy off the centre-line of the car.
I'm hoping to have a 5S laid down running across the chassis. I may need to raise the upper deck, but hopefully that's all.
Does all of the above sound good, or have I missed something obvious? I'm an elec 1/10 guy, never had a nitro chassis before!
