Hi everybody, I am looking to buy an onroad car and dont know what to get. Im looking for durability and plenty of steering. Any suggestions? No sponsored drivers. Honest people please. Thanks

The top 3 at the moment would have to be Xray T4, TRF418 and Yokomo BD7.

If planning to race Xray would win hands down for support. Very well built, amazing manuals and a lot of mid level guys run them.

I bought a TRF418, but would probably have gone Xray if not for nostalgia

Parts for tamiya I find are cheap though. Plastics that is. Also has a wide set up window. Very easy to drive, very strong.

Yokomo are massively fast also and probably currently the best car out there, but parts cost a bomb.

All three are around the $500 mark and are capable of winning anything in the right hands.

Next level down the ARC looks to be a good thing, and the Durango is supposed to be a well thought out machine, however I've never seen one in the flesh.

Have you considered used to start or do you want a brand new shiny box?

Thinking about starting with a used one and I'm only going to race it. I was thinking about the X-ray, buy wasn't sure if it has a lot of steering. Some guy offered me a brand new in the box tamiya ta06 for 225 but I don't know anything about tamiya.

Steering is a matter of set up, not what brand of touring car you get.

If you are going to race then go to the track and ask some guys to show you their cars. Watch the races and ask questions. You may decide then that you like a particular kit. If I had the money i would have one of every major contender. But that's not the case.

If you're not good at setups, you're not going to be fast.

Check out the local track people, they'll help best with setup and part support which are the two most important factors.
