Default Recommend me an ESC

Running a 12R5, Team Orion 11x2 (brushed), shoehorned a 6 cell NiMh home-built pack. I work at a small airport on the weekends, and there is ample room and ultra smooth tarmac; mostly just for high speed fun. I had a Duratrax Intellispeed 8T Pro ESC in it which subsequently decided to burn up on me. Looking for something quality/extremely durable and for the possibility to run brushless in the future....any help would be appreciated.
Or maybe recommend ESC/Brushless combo that will give me insane speed.

Looking to make this car a bit more durable too, maybe aluminum pinion/spur?? Anything else??

*96T spur that came with kit
*27T pinion

If you want more durability change to 48pitch gears. The teeth are larger and handle small rocks better.

On the speedo side of things.... I would go brushless. If you want to keep it cheap find yourself a hobbywing XErun 1s speed control... This will allow you to run 1cell lipo in the future if you want but will also handle your current batteries.

Motors are easy to find... With 6cell NiMh its hard to suggest a motor... Anything under 6.5turns will be very quick.

Thanks for the tips. That ESC looks nice (priced right), but I'm in the US, any dealers here? Other than the XErun 1s, are there any other ESC's that are worthy candidates?

I'm sure I read you can't run brushed motors on the Xerun speedo? I'd personally get a Tekin RS Pro.

No you cant run brushed with the hobbywing

LRP would be another great choice, Novak, Black Diamond...

I would not bother buying a brushless esc to run a brushed motor. Either go brushless or find a used brushed speedy - Very cheap because the demand is not there.
