Default Hara's car

Oscar,

Is there any chance of you posting a picture of Hara's car. I was able to talk to him in Portland at the roar nats and look at his previous car. I would really like to see the difference between the two versions. Can you share any differences in the Orion v2 motors between a touring car setup and a 1/12 motor setup? Are you using a different arm styles?

I always heard about using sun tan lotion for foams in outdoor...i think that was Josh Cyrul who posted it on his thread...but i always asked myself if any sun tan lotion its ok...or must be an especific brand because of his chemical components....

I think any brand will “work” but I’ve found Coppertone specifically to be the most consistent from bottle to bottle.

Of course, it tends to cost the most also.

Suntan lotion actually helps keep the tires clean. If you were to use just Paragon the tires would pick up every dust partical on the track and the car would be impossible to drive. The lotion allow the dust to fly off while the compound stays in.

BTW, those small KO spedos has been out (named VFS1, I believe it is not prototype).

First final just done. Masami, Kimura, Hara. Hara led Masami for 7.30, but used too much juice.

Okay, questions and answers first:

@ Anders: Thanks for helping me with my report. Like mentioned Masami is far far far away. Yoshioka is not racing.

@ Corallyman: I have no pics of Hara`s car, but I advice to look at some Japanese sites. Have seen many of them making pics here.

In regards to motors settings:

1/12th
9 or 10 turn double modified type, softest springs, edge sprint brush. Timing 3-4 mm. Around 37mm/rev for 9, 41mm/rev for 10 turn.

TC
7 or 8 single modified type, extra hard springs, edge sprint brush, timing 1-2mm. About 9.5 ratio for 7, 9.0 for 8 turn.

I advice now to choose for Modified type armature-motor in case of no motor limits. Touring car type motor-armature in case of 10 or 12 turn motor limit. This advice due to the latest increase of battery power.

@ Pizza: Dude, I know now here he is using KO speedo, no idea what happened with the GM one.

@Pyramid: Masami will and has never change for money.... just a note in addition. If else he would have been driving Monster stuff already for ages

Just a note, Calafornia baby spf 30+ sunblock sticks work great on foams if the asphult is clean. They are expencive though...

More news:

Cars in A final:
6 Associated 12L4, 1 Hara, 1 Kawada, 1 Tech, 1 Xenon.
5 of 6 Associated drivers are sponsored by Yokomo, 1 privateer.
Car is almost standard, some L3 Yokomo parts are used.

Drivers
Kimura is driving first time 1/12th, but was off road regular A finalist at Japan nationals. 3 more new driver in a final compared to last year. Itoh, one of Japan super talents, did not make this year, he ended up in the B. He mentioned he could not find a good balance in the car.

Batteries
All A finalists use Sanyo 3600.

Manufacturers on site for assistance: Echo, Futaba, Hot Bodies,[email protected], Kawada, Ko Propo, Peak, Sanwa, Team Luna, Team Orion, TN Racing, Xenon, Yokomo.
