Boost is Dead

I, for one, can't wait to go back to needing a dyno, going through 10 or so motors to find THE fastest one, seeking out the highest voltage batteries and almost all the other things that made stock a big pain in the 1990's.
I like this idea, LOCKED motors, NO TUNING ROTORS, and leave the speedo open. Let us have something to tune in the speedo, to make up for the differences inherent in any mass produced line of motors.
Or maybe we should all just have to run the same speedo, motor, batteries, charger, body, chassis, tires, radio, traction compound, suspension set-up, spec it all. Then you could just throw your stuff in the trunk at the end of the day, pull it out on raceday, and we'd all be equal right?

I think 17.5 boosted is awesome for new comers. Just run 2 classes, 17.5 and mod.
When I first got my TC I was supremely disappointed in how slow it was. It had a 17.5 and a v1 LRP SXX TC ESC. I jacked the throttle profile all the way up. Still slow. Geared it to the moon. Still slow. It was my first time driving a TC and I was thinking, "this is pretty lame, guess I'll just stick to offroad."
Then another guy showed up at the track and threw his car down and came out right behind me, he sat behind me for a few turns and then dove under me when I went wide on accident, and then we hit the straight and holy crap! He was at the end of the straight before I was even halfway!
I found out from him what the deal was and through my RS that was in my SC10 in and BAM! TC just got interesting. Slow enough to control in the infield yet still get that rush hitting mach 3 on the straight.

For me all the whiners and criers that boost is "cheating" and the "kinder gentler world" of let's not make johnny feel bad because he 's not a fast as the others you all SUCK! this hobby was supposed to be about racing and racing is about going fast.
For all of those who think that eliminating boost will somehow magically equalize the hobby, do you sell tickets to the fantasy world you live in?
As allways you can change any parimeter you want ,eliminate whatever technology you want, spec what ever you think you need to but one FACT wil remain the same ....THE FAST WILL ALLWAYS BE FAST AND THE SLOW WILL CRY FOWL!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe 1s sedan is the direction we need to go in? It would offer a reduction in tire wear, wear and tear on suspension components and driveline etc. The only problem is, if this were implemented the slow/lazy among us would still want to slow everything down further.
If you can't hang, just regulate the rest down to your level. Socialist thinking at it's finest.

17.5 boosted is too fast for the beginner and/or avg racer to run on a weekly basis on indoor carpet tracks in the USA with boards as barriers.
All it results in is broken parts frustration and eventually quitting the hobby.
Slower classes are necessary. 17.5 boosted is faster than 19 turn was 4 years ago.

While I understand what ROAR is trying to do, I just don't agree that this will make things easier. The focus will now shift to who has the deeper pockets IMO.
I hope that the non-sanctioned ROAR races, ie Snowbirds, Reedy etc, will not follow suit. At least with the boosted class I do not have to have the hotest battery and motor. I could tune the ESC to extract more performance if necessary.
I hate to think of all the money that has been wasted trying to catch up to Tekin. It seems that as of lately there are companies whose equipment seems on par. What incentive is there now for development from the electronics manufacturers?
In the end I will still spend a lot of money on RC and race whatever the track or race I am at is running.
I wonder if this trend will start with off-raod anytime soon?

personally im glad to see boost go away, more and more clubs are adopting to ROAR rules which is really great. To me i believe it ruined the hobby, at least in on-road anyways. It created more barriers to entry, made the hobby more complex than it should be, and made the cars harder to drive. With non-boosted speedos the car is very predictable and the speedo is much much cheaper. Another great benefit is that its easy to gear and there is NO need for a laptop.
Now we can go back to the good old days of just stock and mod. Simple. Done.

No one, no matter how many years they have been racing likes to get out motored !
I still believe the modern esc's are the great equalizer to this problem.
There should still be a place for a "Blinky Amateur Class"
But for the more advanced, or just the plain old speed freaks that don't mind borrowing an esc setup, open esc should still have it's place. And at all the tracks I see racing, it does.
Don't fix what isn't broken.
