The problem isn't with the motors or speedos. The problem is cry babies! there's no place for crying in racing of any kind. All that's needed is stock, and mod. If mod is too fast for you, don't run it. If stock is too fast for you, practice to get better or just give up! Seriously, GIVE UP! Going fast around a track takes way more effort than just changing a profile or tweaking a motor. A lot of new guys think that they can put a kit together, load it with the latest and greatest and start winning. WRONG! This topic is so sad. Next thing, guys are gonna want race venues to issue ribbons to all paticipants! "Hey dude, check it out! Peep out my 6th place C-Main ribbon! I would have won, but the marshall took too long to flip me over." Chile Please!

Again, this is all opinion. I only gave the thread this title for the shock value. I'm just a nobody bouncing my cars off the boards.
As sctty is one o the main men at ETS and they use 0 timing stock profiles then i am guessing that blinky light stock will be used

But, how many motors, and Tekins did you need to go from "lost" to "fast" in that timeframe ?

Food for thought
I haven't hurt a motor, or replaced a Tekin since I started nearly 2 years ago.

And yes, Mod 12th is the shizz
I'm still on the same Tekin & motor though I changed when the ION3 came out. My original ION is now running T/C in Jeff Whites GT10. Interestingly enough it is the same ION that I ran two years in a row in RCGT and it has seen a 3 hour T/C Enduro...

And yes 1/12 Mod is the shizz!

what would colin chapman say to this? Hmm.

Cant exactly say that something accelerates/decelerates quicker b/c it has to do so more often each lap.

But I will like to mention, that on some tracks you can actually pull same laptimes in 17.5T boosted as modified. That is the case at my hometrack. It is too small to use all the mod powers, and we drive identical laptimes in modified and boosted.

In those cases, you could just have mod and blinky. But I think the general rules should be the 3 classes I mentioned earlier.
I do think 3 classes work, if only because any track can pick two which work for them.
On a bigger track I think 17.5T zero looks slow, but not everyone wants to run mod, for various reasons.

Here it's 10.5T zero right now, and to be honest it's nice, but it's a big track, and while we could run Mod, it's not that sort of field of racers.
To be honest I was not sure about zero anything, but more people just find it easier, so I'm wondering now if timing will die in all but mod.

I'm just bummed that 17.5 open is being eliminated before I had the chance to race in this class. When I got into this hobby a year and half ago the 17.5 Open class was 'THE' class to race in. I've had my Tekin RS since the start but have mostly been racing in the 17.5 blinky class as it best suits my skill level. I was hoping to move up to 17.5 Open next year but it looks like it'll be 13.5 blinky.

For me it's all about the people that you race with and the competition that it offers. The majority of the fast guys at my local track have already switched their setup to 13.5 blinky in preparations for the upcoming 2011 ROAR Asphalt Nationals at Jackson RC. Our recent trophy race featured the 13.5 and 17.5 blinky TC classes. It was a great event and the feedback from the racers were all very positive. Along with a F1 and mini 4wd class we ended up having 2 mains for the 13.5 blinky and 3 mains for the 17.5 blinky class.

If you want to go fast then go Mod !!!!

By your logic shouldn't we just have one class then and if it is too fast just give up? Again, why would you care if a slower class was created? You still have mod. How does it in any way change your experience as a racer? Are you saying you would rather have people quit than have a class appropriate their skill level where they can learn to drive and move up when ready.

As to giving everybody a ribbon where was that suggested anywhere in the tread or is this just strawman of the minute?

ETS is spec speedo and motor... that is totally different than ROARs decision to spec speedos settings but all you to run the motor of the week ..
