Will be trying them out this week in race situations. But just from a maintainence standpoing so far ya get an A+ from me. One question tho should I still try using comm drops with the brushes?
The black magics will take slightly longer to break in, but it shouldnt wear the comm enough to require cutting it. After the motor has been broken in for the first time, I just run the brushes in for 240 seconds at 3 volts. This will seat the brushes pretty good, and your warm up lap will finish breaking anything in after that. As for comm drops, I know some people still use them, but whenever I am building motors for our team I run the brushes dry.

I just got a ROAR Epic Stock from Paradigm. Do you have any gearing recommendations for the XXX-S with a 128 spur on a mid-sized carpet track with foam tires?

Thanks,

Start with a 97 to 99 for a rollout and that will be in the ballpark. From there, adjust it accordinly to the track and your liking.

Thanks Adam
From a P2K2 to a Monster you will generally need to run about 2-4 teeth lower on the pinion.

Heath Models imports the brush in the UK. See page 5 of this thread, Matt (mzenz) posted their contact info.

What would be better, to keep re-serrating the brushes as they wear or to drill a hole for cooling and let the full face of the brush ride on the comm? I usually just keep re-serrating and adjusting spring pressure.
Bisquit pretty much hit this one right on the head. You can reserrate the brush as many times as you like, as long as it isnt burned/discolored. Reserrating will never be as good as new serrations, but for club level racing it works just fine. Drilling a hole will increase RPM and help cool the motor, but the torque will fall off a bit.

The Fiddle Stick and Tribo have a 1-2 week estimate right now, and the brushes are stuck somewhere in customs. They will hopefully be here shortly.

We are hoping to have the brushes in stock within 10-15 days. If not, I am about ready to fly over there to get them myself! Its getting really annoying, because every time I talk to them they keep telling me that the brushes are on their way.... well they have been on their way for about 4 weeks now. I will be sure to let you guys know the second they come in. Sorry about the delays on them.
