Default Motor temp

Hi guys can you help?? I run a touring car with a sp gt2.1 with a 13.5 motor to get the most out of my car I need everything turned up on the speedo, but after 5min race it comes off at 100 degrees is this ok? I have an 86 spur and a 19 pinion at the moment on a small technical track? Is there anything I can do to keep performance up but cool the motor down?? Etc smaller bigger pinions??? Thanks

First off what are you measuring temp in C or F and also what is the internal ratio of your chassis ? I run 13.5 with the same speedo at a gearing of 7.00 and the car is plenty fast enough for our track and that's without the settings up high. Also is not that hot. I work on the touch with you finger for a couple of seconds then it's not to hot.

I've worked it out to be 4.52 its quick but too hot! Just need to keep the speed and cool her down, if you could recommend something and your settings that would be great I've also got a 90 spur too

No wonder it's getting hot mate. That gearing is more like 21.5 gearing. You want it up round 7 really. I wouldn't even run 17.5 that low. What car is it your using ?

How many volts you running? I'd definately look into going up a cell or 2 and then gear it to your speed needs.

Think the internal ratio of your car is 1.83 so with a 86 spur I would go for a 22 pinion and that will give you about a fdr of 7.15 and that's about right for a 13.5 with this speedo. I can post my settings later as not at home right now. I would have thought that the motor is topping out though with the gearing you have said you are running as I worked it out at over 8( that's if your internal ratio is 1.83) can't find anymore info on the car so that what I have worked on. If it's different just post it on here mate.
