How much side to side play does the diff have when it is installed with out any shims..?? or if you do have to use a shim place it on the long side of the diff (left side if looking from the back) it might free up a little play on the shaft counter gear... .hmmm Have you tried that yet..??
-Dave
Yes,now I use a shim placed on the long side to solve the problem. There is not side to side play in this case too.

i just shim on the shorter side only so as not to affect any gear mesh as diff can only move towards the bevel gear and not away from it

I think he might have tried that..??? but what I think he is saying is that the diff is also tight without the shims

then maybe it could be either the diff plate or ballbearings like you said earlier....but it's likely the diff plate

and maybe try to re-install the bulkhead.there could be some tolerances with the screws and the countersunk holes on the chassis

I was thinking of that being a option too ..on my CE-4 I had some problems like that on the front motor mount ..so that might have a bit of a difference ...

I have seen to Japanese Guys a Yatabe Arena that had this set up on there 'CUDA's" ..but They never ran their cars' Plus from what I could ask them ...( limited Japanese speaking skillz' ) they could only Use a 300M body... The Protoform 2.0 was oout of the question......
but for seeing them in action .. Thats a Big Fat Negative
