Well after doing nothing to my car since yesterday, just getting cells charged, I went off for tonights club racing, the last outdoor race of the season.
I was lying 4th in the championship and needed a score of 198 to drop a 191 score and gain the 7 points to 3rd place, so it was a tall order.
Well my setup from Stonehaven was great for my club track, although I could of done with CS22's instead of 27's, it was quite a cold night. I set FTD in the first run, using my worst set of cells and knowing my lines could be neated up in some places.
Second run was on another set of cells that I know are slower than my 3300's but I was going better. Unfortunatly so was another guy, it turns out he was using CS22's, definetly the tires to be on but mine are useless after yesterday, where I shattered a carbon dish rim and there aren't any walls to hit at Stonehaven I often find 22's alter the feeling of my setup anyway, normaly for the worse.
So I was 2nd for the finals so far.
Third run was a little messy at the start and with previous runs being so neat it was hard to get on FTD pace, I improved my time by about a second in the end, since I was using a good set of cells but I couldn't get FTD. 99 points for 2nd on the grid was a good starting point though.
The guy on FTD wasn't using CS22's anymore since they were borrowed from his brother who was back in racing after some problems with his electrics, neither brother were quite able to keep up with me after that but the guy 3rd in the championship was having a good night too.
In the final I got spun at the start so I was last after a lap, then I started to reel in the guy ahead as he had problems controling his car I quickly passed him, and a little while after that I got the next guy without too much hassle. It then took about 3 minutes to slowly catch the 3 leaders, with my championship rival in the lead. The two brothers were battling for 2nd and 3rd and as I caught up they got tangled slightly in one corner and I went through the middle I was a few seconds behind the race leader and he was goin well, then he said his cells were dumping, and he certainly lost some speed, not a lot but enough for me to catch him quicker. He made a couple mistakes and I was right by him, I went for a pass, we ran over the bot dots and he got rolled so I waited for him, he then told me to just go since his cells were dumping and I would of had him anyway, so I went and got another couple laps in to take a nice win He managed to fend off the two brothers, but only just on his last lap.
So with 199 points to my name I had to see how the points all added up.... well with my competitor getting a decent result he also dropped a score to give himself two more, this meant I was still one point behind him when everything was done... so close but no trophy this season
Still had a great night, with some very fast and close racing. I'll certainly be noting down this setup, it was stable and very good at the tight corners without scrubbing too much speed, good at chicanes

Well it should be an interesting indoor season, more guys than ever in with a chance
Was good to be getting such consistantly fast times, only ever struggling against a guy who was on the right tyres or at one point by a guy who was using a Reedy Krypton 12t, which was flying down the striaght and gave him a couple of meters on my 19T thank god for a small track, he seems to have a heavy throttle thum though as he had dumping problems
using 3300's he must have a serious problem though

About those cells Dave, your postie found my letter yet?
been almost two weeks

Dave - The upper deck still had a tiny bit of tweak in it, and the washers were binding up the bellcranks, after a couple hours with a dremel and my digital calipers, this thing is tweak free, and the steering is as smooth as stock

So why was there tweak in the first place?
what have you done to the steering to introduce the problem, since surely the only way to change the height they need to be is by changing the bulkhead heights or not using the diff covers but there are shorter posts for that already.
Or has a different chassis/topdeck combo vaused some alignment problems?

Thats made me think, with the PAL R2 conversion having machined section for the bulkheads and motor mount, won't it also need slightly shorter steering posts. Is this going to be a dremel job? or will hey machine the chassis at the steering post holes or include shorter parts needed?
