Still going through spur gears, hmmm...
I went through a few when I first got my cuda but have been able to get the last couple to last around a month each. I think you need to tighten up your chassis better when rebuilding it. I leave all the bottom screws that go into the bulkheads slightly loose so the bulkheads are free to move. Then put the top deck screws in the same. Spin the drivetrain a little by hand and go around the top deck screws tightening them a little at a time, doing one at the front end of the car then one diagonaly opposite on the rear of the car, so on and so on. Then once all the top deck screws are done I do the bottom chassis the same way, making sure it's always on a flat surface. With alloy shaft holders you should be getting more than a day out of a spur when racing stock. Maybe you're over tightening the spur gear screws a bit too, I found I warped my kit spur gear from overtightening, and I don't have the strongest of hands, far from it.

randman - on the spur gear issue on my brushless car i've not used a spur gear up (stripping ) for over 4 race days. RBF uses Robinson Machined Spurs and I'm using Kimbrough 48pt. Like mentioned prior you can overtighten the spur causing the whible - wobble effect this may contribute

the BL system seems to enjoy eating my oneway drive cups though THANKS! for the spares I'll get with steve later to replace them

I'm going to go through the whole car and rebuild it. I dont know why it wouldn't go as fast as I wanted it to last night, when I would try to push it like I normally do, it would just break loose. I'll go through the transmission and re-align everything (although it is so free right now, spin the rear tires and it goes for about 12-15 secs!) I'm going to order the Kimbrough stuff from Steve, and I'll be sure not to overtighten it. Are you running 2 or 4 screws on the spur gear?

You were definately fast last night, did R2 owners proud No problem on the drive cups, glad they fixed your problem.

yeah a good maintenance of the car is a good idea - socal can be tough on cars. between high traction and concrete walls

i am using 2 screws on the spur - i have extra kimbrough spurs if you'd like to try one first

last nite my car was faster than the driver

Ron - If possible, could you pick me up a 70 tooth Kimbrough machined gear from Steve when you see him this week. I'll pay you back on Tuesday. I do regular maintenance on the car, but it's time for a complete teardown

Here's another shot, you can see my beautiful charger too and Nice KO tranny that should be arriving back here in the next couple days after a much needed recalibration. All on my manky pit towel, would love an ALex Racing pit towel but $30 I don't use a towel that expensive on myself

Last one, that cheapo tranny is not mine, honest it's my pitting buddy, he's spent more on cars in the last few months that I dare to count but he still uses el cheapo tranny
There are a few marks on the shell already that was after one run at Carlisle, I seemed to be magnetised wide at the emd of the striaght at the start of the day, went off there three times in three laps and had to go fetch the car myself each time, was too early for my brain to start driving I think
