So how is this a "WORLD" event? I think normal RC consumers will not know the difference between the IFMAR World Championships and the World Cup when they read the race article in the magazines.

Hmm. I think the most important indoor carpet race in Europe since years is the LRP Masters in Germany. About all of the best of the European drivers are there and also drivers from overseas like Surikarn, Hara, Masami, Barry Baker, Paul Lemieux, Mark Pavidis and others had been there.
Next important carpet races will be DHI-Cup in Denmark and Team Orion Classics in Zillisheim/France in my opinion. We will see if the World Cup will be anything near these. From the international drivers just Chris Grainger and Pelle Martin signed.

Since this race is being held by CRF (which is very closely related to Team Orion), I don't see anything but a huge race in there. About the name, I agree that the LRP Masters deserves the name of world cup (it's usually compared to unofficial worlds). Interesting thing is if you read the rules, you'll notice it follows the reedy race format.

Trust me, this event will rock!

You may want to have a look at both the main and secondary sponsors. GP does not often sponsor an event, so if they do they mean business. The secondary sponsors together manufacture just about every touring car that is able to compete at the highest level.

Does anyone want to bet against these sponsors sending some of their best drivers over????
