hi kewdawg, I have a question regarding the shimming and amount of play in the gears, won't the gears be prone to stripping when they have "some play" in between them? I run a spool just have the stock shims on both sides and sometimes strip my gears when I fly-off and land on all fours while at full throttle...or the effect would be if there is a bit of "play", then there is more room for the gears to slip intead of strip? Let me know what you think

Hello guys

I just ordered a TC4 and have a question. How do I determine the FDR? Is it the same as the TC3 [(spur/pinion)*2.5]?

Or is the gear ratio different for the TC4? I heard they changed it from 2.5:1 to 3.0:1. Is this true?

Thanks in advance,
Kenny

I has not changed, the diffs are interchangable between the TC4 & TC3

OK guys thanks. I used to have a TC3 and had found the ideal pinion/spur combo for an MVP where I run. I sold the TC3 a couple years ago but still have my notes with different FDRs and how I liked it. I just ordered a TC4 + MVP motor so I will just use the same gearing and be good to go

Sorry if the reply to this has been posted before, but what are you guys using to shim up the arms on the TC4? Even the graphite arms seem way sloppier than those on my FT TC3.

Yeah, it's pretty sad that even the graphite kit doesn't fix that play. I use and extra motor washer to get rid of the play. Make sure the arm doesn't bind when adding even more washers. If there is play inside the hinge pin pivot ball, simply replace it or what I heard to do is use a piece of the plastic bag that comes with any Team Associated parts and put it inside.

Paul.

Default Overheating problem!

Hi Guys,

I'm still having problems with my motors overheating in my TC4, I've tried everything you can think of, I checked every single bearing and tried different gearing and motors...but no result

Can someone help me please I really don't know what to do
Have you expereienced some overheating probs with this car?

Any help would be very welcome!

Thanks!

Define overheating. To the touch or do you know the actual temp?

Without a motor in it, will it free spin?
What pinion and spur do you have on it?
Are you racing it or driveway play?
What type of connectors (if any) do you use between the motor and speed control?
How long are you running it to get to the overheat problem?
What motor are you running?
Do all motors overheat?

JWATT-Thank you for trying to help, the motors can hardly be touched more than 2 secs and I'm using the duct/fan kit, this is after 3/4mins and happends with all my motors (V2's, Ti, Corally) I use different turns: 12t, 8t, 7t and I can assure you my gearing is correct I checked with the guys at the track, I use to have a TB evo 3 and I used the same gearing and had NO heat probs so I know its something to do with the car

My drivetrain is perfectly free it spins for 4-5sec, I don't use any connectors everything is soldered

I hope I gave you all the info you wanted, this is really annoying and I'm starting to go crazy!

Again, thank you I hope you'll try and help more!

the guys suggesting the gearing, are they running a TC4 as well? ...

here at socal i've got friends running 8x1's with no problems at all, oftentimes without fans...

edit: oops, didnt see that you mentioned a free spinning drivetrain...

I tried 3 ESC, the one I was running now is a novak GTX and it gets slightly warm after a couple of mins, their must be something that's overworking the motor but I just can't find it

With the 8T I use 8.2/8.6/9.2 FDR different timing with no resutls
With the other motors I tried plenty of other gearings....always overheating...trust me its not a gearing prob
