Last one. Only drawback I found to doing this is youll have to cut out some webbing in a very tight spot to be able to use the rear position.

Looks good Jack... think I'll give that a try.

I'm also working on moving the battery a bit inboard by removing a lil' plastic off of the chassis... just like the popular TC3 mod. I found that I can move the battery inboard about 3mm... and I don't think i killed the chassis rigidity too much

Also... I've been running my batteries with deans connectors which were about 3-4 inches long... cause the wires were attached to the batteries on the *outside* of the car. I'm going to start wiring the way Jack did above... that'll save me 8 grams more on that side of the car...

I think all this will allow me to take off a lot of the 30-ish grams of chassis balance weight that I've added.

I'm also going to move to using the fan kit which should further translate the dead weight on that side of the car into useful weight.

Anybody compare the weight of the blue aluminum motor mount to the standard black piece...

The black piece feels HEAVY

Yeah, the blue anodizing is much lighter.

I haven't put them on the scale but they are the same piece. Just a different color. I would be really suprised if there was any difference in weight, other than a standard manufacturing variance.

Default Batteries

In Jack smashs pics (thnx by the way) I noticed that he is mounting the batteries with the tabs on the side, LOL i did this and now have a huge grind mark on my drive shaft..Tab was rubbing so I flipped the batts around. The next thing is by removing the Batterie strap you save 12g? That seems like a lot of weight for something so small. But for those who dont like dealing with tape or cutting chassis for that matter, what about a piece of CF like the stuff that BMI uses? Thats another point, BMI makes the chassis that is supposed to reduce weight by tons while gaining the rigidity that we ALL want while carpet racing...just a though.

Another thing im curious about is the effect of weight in stock racing compared to mod. How much differece is there based on performance when running in each class? I run stock and thats where I would think it would be more important to run a lighter car, I could be wrong though. I just know that with all the plastic parts, and the batt strap, A BMI x-ray is still not beating a TC4.

I knew the blue was aluminum...thougt a different alloy may have been used for the black piece...

I wasn't expecting it to be lighter just becauseit was blue Blake....lol...you know me better than that I should hope

You guys notice that Baker's car was sprung copper/red?

I'm not springmaster2000... but that strikes me as being softer than normal. Wonder if that's how he ran the main... and what the rest of the setup is like.

I have never run below 30 lb up front on carpet-but I wouldnt see why that would be bad in modified if you needed more steering.

Also-BMI is working on a new battery strap for the BMI TC4-but I dont know if it will fit the Associated TC4.

I'm running purple up front and copper rear which is one level stiffer than what he ran. I'm am not running a front ant-roll bar. I'm thinking that purple without the bar is close to copper with the bar. I'll try his spring setup in a couple weeks when i can get to run again.

I think its around $12 - $14.

Looks like Barry and Blackstock have started posting again. Hopefully we will get Barry's setup from the Novak.
