We race TT-01's over here in a beginners class and the Tamiya NSX's are about the best balanced shell and easy to drive IMO.
Some of the others are ok but generally they generally generate good front downforce and not enough rear and as others have said the rear wings dont do to much.

They look awesome on the box and pretty clumsy on the track sometimes...lol

i thought tamiya bodies, not counting that ugly subaru one, were not legal for ROAR races? because the need to be based on a 4 door sedan,

can someone elaborate?

The best Tamiya "touring" body would have to be the B4.

I have always liked the Calsonic Z for TCS

I'm looking forward to trying this body.

I think most of the tamiya bodies that people have mentioned are all work pretty good. I've used the NSX as a base for quite some time. But, you have to replace the rear wing to get any form of downforce over the back. The wings that come with the kits just don't cut it.

I have run the Mercedes AMG bodyshells (there's a few versions, but they're all very similar) in 21.5 on carpet and they did very well, but with Protoform wings. Without those, they're all over the place.

OP doesn't specify if there is a requirement that the shell is ROAR legal or not. If yes, then there is only one option.

If no, you can run any of them, they're just as bad (or good if you want).

Don't delude yourself and imagine they'll be competitive though. They weren't designed for that.

so the only body that looks like a protoform, proline, or any of those other TC race car bodies is the subaru mentioned in an earlier post.

from what you said, all others won't perform to well compared to the other "purpose built" racing bodies.

Why not just use the body and find out for yourself. And not rely on what "they" say.

I think some of you are missing the point of this thread and digressing.

I would like to know what Touring Car shells performs as good or close to the Protoform Speed 6 shells as they seem to be arguable the best atm. I don't care what it looks like as long as it works. So no favourite just because you like the look of it
  • Must be all Tamiya
  • Speed is everything. If a shell is OK in 21.5t classes doesn't mean it will work in Mod
  • Opinions on GT Shells are welcome, but most of them are just dress-up shells & not performance based, so please speak with experience, not just because the shell is pretty to you

In summary, the best suggestions atm have been B4 version 2, and the NSX 2008 with wing kit. As most of you have mention the GT Shells don't have decent rear wings and need the wing kit to provide some downforce. So this would be extra cost (bad)...

Keep them coming as I'm still interested in fresh as well as popular opinions from the majority

What does inboard shocks mean? Sorry for the noob question. I was going to pick up this body soon for my next RCGT body. Would these fit my Tc4 posts? Thanks.
