The RS can't. The RS Pro can.

I have only tried the SP V3 motor and only 5.5T, so I can't really answer that question. But I am very happy with my Speed Passion.

Any motor under 5.5t needs an esc with a fan to get max performance, even if the manufacturer tells you otherwise! Has anyone run a 3.5t and rs pro with a fan? The last time I saw a rs pro running a 7.5t on a 8th scale track for 5 minutes, it came off very hot, compared to my novak gtb 3.5t; and I had been running the novak for years on the same track at 9.25fdr...I would say go with a rx8 ; you might be able to run a 2.5t without any issues at all...When it comes to mod racing, you want an esc that can cook motors, not the other way around!

Very much the case.... I have seen very few people have any speed with a RS PRO in mod and certainly no one fast... I have a similar problem running mod with a speedy that is near its limits....

And I CAN tell you an R1 pro with a fan in a pro10 with a 4.5 thermals after 3 minutes, now you...

And I'd go for the speedpassion.

So? I am talking about RS - not R1. I have experienced 1/12's with a 4.0 and Tekin RS Pro without problems.

I ran mainly gtbs with 3.5t in my cars(tc4ft/corally f1/tamiya f103gt) against 8scale and nitro sedan, none of them thermalled, or even got hot to the touch!!! The only novak that kept thermalling after 3 minutes was the hvmaxx esc I had in another tc4 running 4s! I plan on switching to a rx8 on that one! Eventhough the rx8 is heavier than the rspro and has a higher internal resistance, it would be the only option so far, or the mamba monsters; basically anything able to do 6S !!! I saw an rx8 in an 8th scale serpent run for 10 minutes with no issues at all, 2650kv motor, stock setup( 32 timing) which is too high according to tekin reps.... As far as best 3.5t motors , its too close to call.....

The MMH motors I've been running are pretty damm fast it has to be said. The 5.5t I've been using this week has got favourable comments, both in pace (very fast), and looks (the blue anodizing matches the 417 rather well!).
I've run a 4.5t too on a much larger track, and makes my old SP v2 3.5t seem slow!

HiH

The RS Pro thermals at around the 8 minute mark with a 3.5 depending on gearing. Personal experience. It's fine for normal 5-6 minute electric TC runs. The recommendation I got was to run a small fan pointing at the solder posts for extra cooling to run longer as I was competing against 1/10 Nitro TCs so needed longer run times. Haven't got around to mounting the fan to see if that improves the time before thermalling.

If everyone you know with thermalling problems is running the RS then that will thermal sooner as it's not designed to run 3.5 motors.

I drove the RS Pro with a 4.5t in my pro10 and the RS Pro and all wires to the motors and to the lipo were so hot that i hardly could touch them. The RS Pro was also too hot (all lights lid up). It also stank under the body from the rubber from the wires that got too hot. RS Pro without a fan just gets too hot. With a fan blowing towards the post it ran ok.

We are talking about 2s lipo in a pro10 on big 1/8 tracks, not a 1/12 (on smaller indoor tracks?)
