Since the RCCar Action Insane Speed Run Challenge is nearly a year away, I thought that it may be a good idea to get some tips and advice from you guys. As stated before I have nearly enough parts to build a second Evo III, and I want to enter the challenge. Although I may not win in the TC class because any advice given by you guys will instantly become public knowlege.:D

I already made my decision on the powerplant; The Aveox Brushless Motor System. Problem is I don't know where to purchase it. I don't believe I can purchase it directly from Avoex, since the site is moving. Do they have a dealer they supply through? I got this chart of the types of motors, their price, and their specifications:

I want the motor to meet its maximum rpms, which is 50Ks. How many cells will be required? I haven't really read the specs (call me stupid) because there are so many models that can attain 50Ks. Do some models take less cells than others to attain its max rpms?

Next, will be weight distrubution. Since I will packing a lot of cell to only one side of the chassis, should I sitffen the shocks on the battery side? Or is there a better way to configure a layout that will properly balance out the chassis?

Last, is the tires. Throughout reading of the ISRs in the past, there has been a lot of tire popping.......even Proline developed a full sized tire to be used in racing (don't remember the issue it was in) to see if they can design a tire to withstand the high rpms and heat developed by running the ISR cars. I have seen the new type tires, the ones with the compound inserts molded in them. Are they good for speed runs? I like to get some input about tire wear from you guys.

I haven't decided on a body; since it is going to be a TC, I really don't have much to choose from that will provid enough downforce in the front without either making the car push to the wall or having the nose scrape the ground. I don't want it to go airborne either! :sweat: But I'll discuss the body later.

So can I get some assistance on this? I want another car knock Associated Electronics off one of the thrones!:D :nod:

Evo3? Make sure the gears don't strip :lol:

I got one of those things in my closet....Stripped front crown gear and am screwed until I get one

Yeah, I thought about the gear box........I know that I don't want to "punch the throttle" and chew up the gears.:( I may think of a way to "seal" the gearboxes and fill it with some type of oil to keep the friction down. It is just a thought, but do you think its possible? 10 or 30 wt. motor oil? Would it be too thick of viscosity?:confused:

Torque Steer might be a problem too... so be gentle on the throttle at least for the first few feet... ;)
