Help cutting comm

I've got a monster arm to cut. I'm not sure if it's ok to wrap the belt around the wires or should it be on the arm stack itself.

I normally make sure it's wrapped around the stacks, but as long as the belt isn't slipping it doesn't really matter.

Do not wrap the drivebelt around the wires. It will be a very lumpy ride or worse, you risk cracking the insulating lacquer on the windings and your arm will short out.

When I lathe the Monsters, just shift the o-ring further, run it atop either stack.

thanks for the replies. On another note, I just got a Hudy Advance Comm lathe and the instructions were not really clear. There are plastic tabs on top of the guide. How do you use those? Also, it mentions to turn the back stop so as not to hit the tabs with the bit. The back stop screw is a bit short if i rely on it.
