This was one of the prototypes when the XXX-S was developed.

For a company concerned with making money (an old concept but one that privately held companies still focus on) that means that designing and releasing a monthly sedan is not nearly as profitable as designing a sedan 'platform' which has several differing varients from RTR to full race. This marketing concept can be seen with both the TC3 and XXX-S.

Will Losi and AE be releasing new sedans in the future? Undoubtedly, however I guarantee that in a small margin market such as the RC industry neither company is in a hurry to do it until they've squeezed the last possible penny out of their current designs and tooling, especially in the current economic climate.

Just my $.02
The demand for technology is just as great, here in the states. The difference is: the bulk of technology comes from overseas which costs to have it here in the states. The deciding factor is the consumer's spending ability. The "latest and greatest" bug is biting nearly everyone. Many of us are racing on a budget and basically, would have to re-finance our homes to buy and maintain these $350.+ kits. This is the sole reason more people aren't driving Tamiya tourers and other expensive/exotic cars like it. Everyone wants to be fast - good driver or not, and many believe the newest products yield those results. It's just that most aren't willing to "forget" about paying the bills to buy it.
At one time (for a long time) the TC3(along with the mainstay XXX-S) reigned supreme. The times have changed and there has been a "changing of the guard" in touring cars. The TC3 and XXX-S have, for many, been relegated to "old faithful" duties in a racer's touring car arsenal.

I categorically delight in the progression to these well thought-out and quite elloquent posts of late!

Perhaps we here in this thread, united, can usher in a new era where oral diarrhea is frowned upon and proper discussion and discourse can reign supreme!

Right dudes?

This may be out of left field but i do know that there is an aftermarket kit to convert a TC3 tub into a graphite plate chassis. Now while there isn't a kit currently available is to hard to imagine that some factory guys (BK w/ the custom blue shock tower) have gone out of their way and made something similar for themselves?

www.bmiracing.com (they also have a big thread here) makes the plate chassis for the tc3

alot would have to go into making a plate chassis conversion for the xxx-s. one being a way to mount the motor.

If you add a plate chassis to the XXX-S wouldn't you just eventually end up with this:

Kawada Sigma SV-10

http://www.evolutionhobbies.com/Our_Products.html

Its a single serpentine belt on a plate chassis:

Features:

*Center single belt 4WD system
*2.5mm carbon chssis & 2.0mm carbon upper plate
*symmetry balanced chassis layout, 50/50 r & l
*redesigned long suspension mounts
*fully adjustable suspension,toe,camber,ride height,roll
*new design servo saver
*easy diff maintainance, detach shock stay only
*front & rear anti roll bar
*24 ball bearings
*CV universal joints
*rear delrin diff cups
*front one way bearing
*alloy spur gear holder
*alloy motor mount

Figured one more log on the fire would not hurt since its already hot in here
