So was it the full production version or just a proto?

I ran a close to production car tonight. BK had the prototype that he has been running for a month now. Sorry I can't post any pics. Until the bosses say so....I have my hands tied.

A description of the car is something for Todd to give when they're ready.

From RCZONE.NET

Back in March we reported that Team Losi was testing prototypes for a new platform Touring Car. Now it looks like the R&D work has progressed far enough that an announcement concerning this new touring car from Losi is imminent. Codename Skinny as this new Touring Car racer apparently has been known as is to be based on a 2 belt setup.

Last Saturday a near production-spec chassis was spotted at SoCal Raceway, California being run by Losi R&D guy and team-driver Todd Hodge while Brian Kinwald was still running a prototype chassis. The fact that pre-production cars exists indicates that the new car is pretty much finalised and it’s expected that the Losi team will run production cars at the upcoming IFMAR ISTC Worlds.

No detailed pictures are available as of yet and the differences between the prototype and the pre-production cars are still unclear. The prototype spotted a carbon-fibre plate chassis and upper deck and machined aluminium parts. Considering Losi’s history though, a moulded chassis and bulkheads would be expected for the production car.

Already in March we reported that the prototype had the battery mounted along the middle of the chassis. More information concerning the car has slowly surfaced and the car will indeed have the battery mounted along the center-line, much like HPI’s Pro 3, but with the motor mounted in front of the battery. The new car has a two-belt drive train as opposed to the current car, the one-belt Triple-X S. The rear belt is routed to the rear diff via the side of the battery.

Further detail information is very sparse although some sources suggest that the car uses very short suspension arms together with a few other interesting features incorporated into the suspension design. A lot of the team drivers have been running Tamiya dampers on the XXX-S’ lately and a new improved touring car damper design from Losi might be introduced on the new car.

The official name of this new Touring Car chassis from Team Losi is not yet known.

That information together with a lot more details and pictures will no doubt be released very soon. Keep your eyes open, Team Losi is in the game!

Is it me, or does that sound like the belt/motor setup is gleamed off the xx-4?? If I remember right, that car had the motor up front.
