I have always said 'TEE - KING', but some of the locals here say 'TECH - IN'. I was told I was an old skool racer by saying 'TEE - KING', which it what started this whole thing off!

I don't think this is a Brit Vs US thing, as some of us Brits say it one way, and some say it the other!

That's interesting about the renaming of aluminium to make it more 'classical'. I heard that many English words were altered in the same way a few hundred years ago to make them sound a little more French and 'classy'. A good example being colour, with the U being added for this reason. So if that is accurate then the way you Yanks spell it (color) would be the original English way before we got all snobby and posh.

Not sure if its true though.

Anyway there should be no reason to ever say the word Tekin. Apart from when you say 'I'm glad I threw that Tekin in the bin and bought the GM'

The Norman conquest is to blame for how messed up the language is. Before that, it was a pretty normal Germanic language. The Normans imposed a lot of French spellings and pronunciations on it, turning it in to this weird mix of Germanic and Romance.

It is tee-kin with the accent on the tee.

How do I know? I was one of the first people to deal with Tekin back when Kevin Orton split from Delta and moved to SoCal to start this company. This was back in 1985-86.

He sold the company I owned then (Peak Racing) some teardown motors and a custom battery matcher.

I always like the old ESC's with the gold-coloured aluminium. I thought they looked sharpe.

It figures we could blame it all on the French. I mean really, who would spell it "blue" as "bleu"
