Round my area I think the 'tech-in' pronunciation is a little more popular, but people still use both.

Out of interest how do you guys pronounce the fighting game of the same spelling?

I am not even going to guess. I have never even heard someone try to say it either. Not in a store not in conversation...so I truely dont know.

I suppose with Tekin being an American company it would be pronounced like that by their employees.

Meh, some fair examples there. Like it was mentioned before, if only English grammer had some hard and fast rules eh!

Thats my bad on the fighting game, it is a different spelling isn't it.

I guess like I said before, cos of accents etc we would all say it different anyway. Just like aluuuuuuuuuuuminum

A friend of mine says Tam-ai-ya... I say Tami-ja...
And camber is chamber for him..... I say kam-ber...

But we are scandinavians and not native speaking english.

Back in 1990 at the Reedy Race of Champions off road race in Costa Mesa I was talking to someone from Tekin and he said its pronounced "tech in".

I say "Tech-In", like the video game.

I found it really weird when I was watching videos and they were calling it "Tee-kin".

Not actually. It was named "Aluminum" (without the extra i) by a British chemist. Some anonymous Brit wrote in to a journal that it was a bad name and added the extra "i" because he felt it sounded more classical.

We just choose to spell it the way the discoverer did, not the way some grammarian does.

The "tam" and "eye" in Tam-eye-ya are not proper syllables...
It's just how an American would mispronounce the name.
