Default AE #611 Reedy Quasar Pro Charger cannot charge 8 cells with more then 1.0 AMP?

I've got my AE #611 Reedy Quasar Pro Charger back from AE after their recall and got updated to Version 2.1....so far so good...cause I don't usually charge my receiver pack (8 cells) with more then 1.0AMP..........but recently, I just found out, the charge cannot charge 8 cells with more then 1.0 AMP....not even 1.1amp...

Can someone tell me that is the SAFETY issue or my charger need another RECALL or REPAIR from AE again...?

I emailed AE pertaining to the above question and will see what they will say.....but what about ppl in this forum....? The same issue or I am missing something...? Thanks....

P.S....for a $180 charger, that cannot charge 8 cells with more then 1.0 amp, that is BS.....

I personally don't have the Quasar but I've heard of people having this same problem after getting their charger back from recall service.
Looks like it's time for v3.0.....?

My friend noticed the same thing about his charger. They may have changed it on purpose for some reason or another.

Ive heared that this was for safety. Personally, I have been holding off on the recall because of this.

If you're running drag, I could see how this would be a problem. But for transmitter packs..... how much juice is your transmitter using? I mean, it's probably alright to run it with 1/2 charge, especially with aa's topping 2100 mah. We used to tough it out with 600 mah nicads back in the day

Hmm, I charge my 8 cell transmitter pack at 1/2 - 1 amp, I don't see why this is too much of a problem.

Just curious, on the Quasar box does it say how many cells it will charge?

Assuming it says "4 to 6" or something like that, then the fact it will charge 8 is only to allow for tx packs and 1 amp is adequate for AA's...any more may well be getting into that "dangerous" bit someone mentioned.

Says in the 2.1 manual "Maximum charge rates: 4-6 cells = 6.5 amps, 7-8 cells = 1 amp."

OK...thanks guy, so now I know it is not a individual case.....it is probably a DESIGN issue...

No, I don't have to charge my 8 cells AA with more then 1 amp, but I am just wondering will I have the option to charge 7 or 8 cells for more then 1.0 amp....

Thats cool.............

It's not an "issue" as such...it's just the way the unit is set to function.

Yes, got the respond from AE, they said it was "part of the fix"....so, I think I just can't charge my receiver pack more then 1.0amp.
