With the PRP or HPI diff plate...gear strippage is unlikely.
I've got the PRP diff plate on mine..and haven't stripped any gears yet... still looking as good from day1. and car is very durable.

I've owned the Xray as well...one of the best in craftsmanship and quality of parts. unfortunately I've broken more parts on the Evo2 than my pro4.

Pro 4 gets my vote, although both are quality kits and do well in the right hands.
Why do people who dont own a Pro4 forever go on about bevel gear breakages? Mines been ran for 7 months now 2-3 times a week and havent broken a single gear! even with the front one way. Infact the only part I have broke is when I was hit full power in the back side while pulled off in a pit area, A rear wishbone and hingepin were what went.

Also, you should try asking this in the Pro4 thread to get an honest answer

Pro4 is the current ROAR national champion, is REALLY fast and easy to set up, comes with everything, at a really great price, and hasn't changed the car 3 times in the last 6 months.

Umm, that just makes his decision wider. He's already having a hard time deciding.

Pick all the cars you want, and randomly choose one.

toss a coin...

both cars are awesome, only reason one would be a better choice than the other is parts support/help from locals

this is really hard for tc3 pro to decide w/c one to get.. Just my opinion if I were you l'll try to run these cars in the race track by then you can decide w/c one best site your driving style/taste.
ask your buddies if they will let you test their cars in the tracks. this is best instead of buying both cars considering the lhs support..
