The sub-c's are deisgned to put out more power volt/amps per cell than the AA's.
Have you tried AA NiMH cells? Not Nicad cells. If you haddn't read I have some that is 2300 mah. You standard NiMH cells you race are 3300 and 3600.

AAs cant handle a modified 540 motor trust me, the AAs wil fry .AAs cant push out 35 + amps, if it did it would blow up

So then he can't use AA NiMHs.....

Hes gotta lose the weight and gain power, or else he is just pissing in the wind on this......

I think CP 1300s are good enough.
As far as Weight, its fine.

One thing if he wanted to have less weight, is you could wire up some lithiums paralell and another with it in series. This will increase the voltage , capacity, and amprage.

cp-1300 cells weigh 35g
2300 mah AA cells weigh 30g
lipoly 830mah cells weigh 42g

wow, this thread moves fast...

few questions, GM V12 maxes out at 8 cells. Are there small ESCs that'll go beyond 8? At this point, you can't add anymore cells with out going to a brushless system? Isn't coming up with other cell alternatives kinda moot, since you're stuck at 8 cells anyway? also, may be send your battery pack to a matcher to have it at least zapped for more voltage? Same weight, and even little more voltage will help? Or how about getting rid of the ESC, and going with micro-switch, ala RC dragster? no cell limit, and you can probrably replace the space taken up by the ESC with 2 more cells?

How did you get 64,000 rpm for motor number? didn't think there was a dyno that ran at 9.6V

And how the heck did you spend $1100 already on this micro? It's not like you're using $500 radio and $120 servo? 24K gold plated aluminum parts?

one lipoly cell has voltage alittle more then 3 nimh cells

2/3SC
35grams X 8 = 280 grams and gives you 9.6v

Lithium 830mah in your example
42grams X 3 = 126 grams and gives you 11.1V

Yeah, I forgot about that. Well the 42g cells was 7.2 volts.

schulze makes escs for brushed motors that can handle up to 12 cells.

You can also use airplane ESCs.

Or you can always go to the good old on and off switch activated via servo. (you would definately need a failsafe because it is higly likely that your car will go out of range and the switch will be stuck on

If I go with more cells will I have to get neodynium magnets for the motor?

Where are you getting this from?

neo mags will up the motor performance but it is not needed for high cell count.

Also, i don't think anyone even makes some for quad mag motors.

Nevertheless, if you want to get to 80, 80+ with your micro, sell the rest of your r/c equipment! It is gonna cost you, big time! And after you got it to go 80, the motor gonna be wasted, the thrill will be gone, and if you ever try to put it on a track, you are going to get dusted, because you gonna find yourself all over the track with the speed it'll have. Then again, in a 5 to 10 min heat, you pack may dump before its over.

Lithium Poly cells cost money! It is like new technology for me. I just found out about a month ago that they even made NiMH AA cells, and I have 13 Lithium Poly cells (non rechargeable) in my hobby room (really a junk room, according to my wife). Don't ask where I got those from, but they were free. At 3.6 volts a cell, I am scared to use them in anything!
