Her's a photo of the '20deg' position, though it does look a bit more advanced than most motors;

Hi skiddens, from that view if you retard the timing to -10 degrees then the sensors line up at 0 degrees.

THink it would need more than that.

Here's an HPI Pro FLux at default timing;

And an LRP/Nosram with 2dot timing;

If I run either of those two motors with the ESC anywhere near as high as I have it now, they would melt!

if you place the three sensor so they are in the center of each winding, then that would be zero? if this is the case, position the timing indicate on the end bell reads -10.

I believe that what you say is true, dead centre of each stack is true 0deg, but for star wound motors (as we use in stock classes, it's different for delta wound) most manufactures have their '0deg' or centre marks etc. at true 30deg.

If you're right about the -10deg being in the dead center of the stack, then 20deg by default will be the same as most manufactures 0deg, which sounds about right.

Err, does that make sense.

Between 35 and 40 with a 90 mm rollout seems to work best for me, and I run the stock red rotor.

Do you think the green rotor might be too much Torque the 12th scale?

In my oppinion the higher torque rotors slow the cars down to much when you let off throttle.

OK, FYI all motors come set at 20*. This is true timing as close as you can get.

I recently got an used Z3R motor and have a weird issue. The motor runs very fast but when under braking, the motor makes a annoying clicking sound.. I've never had or seen a motor do that.... It does have a HT rotor in it running with tekin rs. I get the sound regardless of timing. Any ideas?

Have you tried a different pinion? Most of the noises that come from my transmission seem to be related to the type of pinion.
