Thunder Power RC Z3R Motors

The temps are within the range it should be. The only way to test the rotor is with a gauss meter. Same for the stator if you can check with a resistance meter. If one pole has gone bad you will see high resistance. Loosing cog can be caused by loss of rotor gauss or a stator starting to short.

Hi guys
Got a thunder power 17.5 motor with a12.5 high torque rotor
I run 4wd off road
Is it better to gear down and turn the timing up or to gear or high and turn the timing down on the motor
I run a 69 spur with a 33 pinion final drive off 5.3
Thanks Jim

Hi, wish to know. What cause the sensor ocassionally fail after 1-2 min run?
Is the sensor completely dead? or too much free play from the shaft to housing causing the sensor distance too far? thx!

I believe if you are using the high torque rotor you should gear up and reduce the timing. (the higher gauss of that rotor will reduce it's top rpm).

I geared down and turned the timing up to full on the weekend and the car was a bullet finished a lap in front of everyone else and motor was only getting to 70 degress after 5min race

Yep but it got hot really quick
All I can say is that the more I go down in pinion the faster it go's I'm run 69/30 and 45degress of timing in a Schumacher cat sx3 thunder power g6 5000 saddle packs and the 17.5 motor with ht rotor and the thing is a bullet heaps off bottom end and to much top end but I love it

hi, im thinking of running a thunder power motor. my question is, are the ok with gm 90 2010 speedos running in blinky. i usually run gm motors, what kinda gearing is a good starting figure. the track is indoor 30 metre straight at newbury(skiddens knows it)..thank you in advance. plummers

Gear a bit conservative and see what happens.

Got to run my new 10.5T motor tonight, left at 20 timing, I ended up with a 4.8 FDR, or 41.888mm roll out.
Super cold night so I was wary of pushing it being so new, running around 65C, although then in the second final I pushed the timing to 25 and it came off at 60C, I suspect that means I'm getting close to the sweet spot?, at this point I'm unsure if to try more gear, or crank more timing?.
What is a little odd, to me anyway, if I did not match my best times with the Hobbywing motor, the ZR3 felt like it had more bottom to mid, but it's not translating to faster overall yet.
