I'll second that suggestion. That's what we use. It was found to be easier, cheaper, more consistent, and drew fewer bugs, than anything else, including basic sugar water.

Our spreader is actually a tank put on a wagon and the pump for the sprayer bars is powered by a riding lawnmower battery! Quite the operation, but it works amazingly well and makes for a very consistent surface.

Look for the grape soda in bulk packs of 3 liter bottles.

We use fruit punch syrup mixed with water. Works much better than soda but is hard to get outside of Hawaii. We used to use the soda syrup because you used to be able to buy it but that is near impossible to get...but that works really well too.

Great, thanks for the info. We have been using Soda/Pop on about a 50 - 50 ratio and it works great until dark.
The dew (in Houston Texas) starts falling and it re hydrates the spray and the track gets real slick. If its less humid we can use more if its a damp night, get ready for some drifting.

We thought we would try powdered sugar and see if it made a difference. In the end Sugar and water is syrup no matter how you look at it and there may be no difference other than cost.

Thanks for the input.

there is a 'graininess' to sugar compared that 'high fructose corn syrup' etc doesn't have. you may need to cook it down. like making simple syrup if you have ever tended bar or worked a soda fountain.
