XXX-S Gearing Question

I just bought a Losi XXX-S off of ebay, and I'm not sure about what kind of gearing I should use. It came with the blue spur gear which I believe is 128 teeth. I will be running the car on a rather large carpet track with a 19 turn motor. Thanks.

Corally91- Clermont!? No way!!! I have a good friend that lives there....if I remember correctly, with 19T on carpet, I would start with a 29 or a 30, and 57 mm foams. I typically end up with almost the exact same gear ratio with stock and 19T motors on carpet. Be sure to calculate your final rollout, as that will effect how you choose your gear ratio. There is an extensive rollout chart for the XXX-S that I posted on the XXX-s thread.

(BTW- I used to run carpet at FCRC and CPT in Jax all the time before I moved out to CA. Where are you running?)

I dont know what motor youll be running, but with Reedy Quad Mag 19's I run a 36-37 pinion.

Funny, clermont is such a small town I probably know him. Anyways, I will be runnning a Fantom 19 turn most likely in the rubber class.

Probably so- it is Jason Ruona. He races, too. Rubber on carpet...? that gearing will probably be off. Printout that rollout chart, anyways, and take it with you to the track.

Yeah, rubber on carpet sounds weird but it is actually the biggest class at the track for on-road.
