What was the reason for the slow and slower classes? Was there a reason why there was no boosted? Seems like the only classes were fast and slow. Nothing in the middle.

Hell yeah, I miss those old days. Stock class at South Shore, nice and simple. Well, unless you count the endless brush wars and com cutting. These days you need to own 10 motors, and you need to have to use your laptop to get your car setup. Wild, technology can be great, but it can suck too.

TC 17.5 no boost is good on a 100x50 carpet track boosted only gets you about .5 a lap. and then someone just peels you down the straight because they can't set the timing right. now 12th scale 17.5 non boost is a bit of a yawn... but 13.5 non is better. so having the same motor for "Stock" is sort of the problem. a 150x75 track 17.5 non is like 21.5 non at the Nats... yawn... it was funny even Jimmy Babcock got in on it for the "B" main. he said maybe if someone caught up to someone else we would have a race here. 21.5 16 entries at the carpet nats. can't wait till the paved nats to see how many show up. that will be the test.

the Negative comments from those that didn't attend serve what purpose??

for Mr. I hate On road ever since Barry Baker told me to get the F away from him when I was trying to give him a hand job in the pits.... your such an ass, I hear the guys you do race with put coffee in your gas tank. the only class that didn't have a MOD class was WGT and the only extra stock class was 21.5 so once again you really have no point other then to get people to respond to you so you feel relavent.

for Mister Weaver, aahhhh, what? I'm pretty sure there was a stock and mod class in all classes except WGT

for mister james, well there was a middle class, 21.5 slow, 17.5 middle, mod fast.

Default ROAR 2011 Carpet Nats = AWESOME

Thanks to Mark Day and Rick St. Cyr for having an incredible love and passion for the hobby. Thanks for building two world class on-road facilities with your own personal money just because you want to have a place to race.

Thanks to the Timezone Hooligans for all the help getting the expansion done in time and all the little things that had to be done to get this race on.

Thanks to ROAR for putting on a great race. The race directing was great and the schedule was held to all week.

I am not sure of the final count but entries were over 200 with about 135 people or so. Almost triple from last year. I was talking to the anonymous #1 mod sedan driver in the country after the race (hint his initials or PL). He said and I quote "The best nationals since the late 90's."

As far as the classes, I think if you look at lap times and overall laps the spread is about right. TC 21.5 was mid 14's to mid 15's with TQ at 25 laps, TC 17.5 was low to mid 13's to mid 14's with TQ at 27 laps, and Mod TC was low to mid 12's to mid 13's with TQ at 29 laps. Having finished 4th in 21.5 I can say that the 3 ahead of me were better drivers. I had just as much spead and power they just out drove me and had better setups. If you look at the spreads on 1/12th scale you will find about the same.

Thanks Rob for all of the pics. I hope you put all that you took on your website with a link.

Awesome race I had a blast. Now I am going to sleep.

Troy
