Default receiver for JR XS3

I am using a JR XS3 radio which uses the rs300 receiver that has no crystals but has the frequencies built into it.
I'm now setting up a second car, and I'm after another receiver but don't want to spend the dollars for the rs300, I thought I might be able to get a fm 27 receiver and just match crystals to what ever frequency I'm using for the 2nd car, would that work or do i have to get the correct receiver?

If I can use another receiver, any suggestions of which one to get?

Thanks in advance

U can use another JR receiver. The R135 is pretty inexpensive. as long as it is the same (fm or am, 27 or 75mhz) as your current radio. Just get the crystals for the channels u want to use.

U could also buy a novak receiver intended for JR radios.

You can also look at airtronics receivers as well. Futaba and hitec will not work at all. I'm not sure how much you will be saving by buying a receiver and a crystal, cause I pick up RS300's on ebay around the $60 range which is excellent.

I have used various Novak receivers and Airtronics crystals with no problems with my XS3. And also the XXTRA, which I got because it's slightly smaller than the 300. But I see they call the new 310 a "micro-size".
