Default confuzzled on lipo batteries?

i saw for sale a 1250mah 11.4v lipo for ten bucks then googled it and there like 28 new.

but then i see some like 5000mah 4.5v for likve 100 bucks.

can some one give me alittle information on the lipo battery's?

why different ones do different things and cost a big difference in price?

ITs a Global economy... I race with very good success with 20$ straight from China lipos, against 100$ lipos with a sticker on them..

I think a lot has to do with brands, capacity, quality and discharge rates.

Kind of like cars... both will take you A-B, why does a Bimmer cost much more than a Civic?

the bimmer vs civic does not fly though.. There is more to it then getting to work. there is actual performance differences. With lipo's many are the same

With lipo in many cases.. the only difference is the case or the sticker on the case. Proving this is very hard. But lets be honest there are not 40 different lipo manufactures making lipos under just the one name.

Isn't that a nitro truck? you would be looking for a transmitter pack or a receiver pack then right? Any affordable soft pack lipo should do the job.

TX RX have fairly low load situations so i trust anythnig you can get cheap

Very few factories actually produces lipo batteries. All other brands "just" put a sticker on and claim it to be theirs.

BUT... Some of the big brands have the first "pick". Some of the big brands get top 10% of the production. The next brand gets the next best 10% and so on.

Looks like you are comparing a 1s lipo vs a 2s lipo.

It's a load of crap ! The fastest driver in the area who runs TC uses the Turnigy 25-30c twenty dollar lipo plus only a stock profile. He is always the fastest and A main winner. Just proves setup and ability means more than anything. Paying big $$ just means you bought into the hype.

I didnt want to bite but I will....
You can buy into the hype yes as there is alot of shit out there.
But I can tell you now my batteries never get even luke warm after giving the a heap of discharge but I have used your so called china batteries and trust me most of them are crap. You pay for what you get and if you were serious about it you would buy into the hobby as a investment and not a toy... If you have small capacity and low discharge rated batteries it wont be long before you speedie gives up on you because your engine is pulling to much from the speedie and things start to fail. Been there done that with cheap crap and it cost me more than just a decent battery in the first place.

So yes dont buy into the hype with copies by a decent battery by doing some research. Trust me its worth it in the long run.

in many cases yes the brand names are the best, but you cannot for sure beleive that all the china packs a crap, after all all the name brand packs come from the same factory... cases and stickers being the biggest difference between some or many...

I started a thread to get Xtreme rc to do a lipo shoot out. It seems we would rather shoot out RTR trucks then find out who makes the best packs..

I had suggested an anual ROAR legal lipo shootout... But it was easier to find excuses not to do it then to actually do it... We got motor dynos and nitro motor dynos and with sub-c's we had turbomatchers... for some reason no one seemed intrested to destroy the myth that a sticker on a china pack makes it worth 100$!!!

20$ vs 100$

rc411 please do a shoot out

Well are you a sponsored racer? The guy I'm talking about is by Xray and Tekin. He blows away the competition with out timing or boost just a spec profile and drops lap times of other top racers running all the bells and whistles so I'll take his lead over yours. If these batteries are good enough for him I can't argue. He said not to waste my money and put it somewhere else so I'll listen. Plus its a motor not an engine. Oh to add to this I have 2 SMC C-MAX 5200maH batteries that have puffed up with only balance charging 300 bucks down the drain.

Yeah my apologies I did type engine and not motor.. sorry.
Hey look nothing will beat a great setup I hear ya. And a great setup and a great driver will beat power anyday. But then you need some power to keep it all going.
Its the package all wrapped together that makes the laptimes.

Dont think for one minute I was putting him down or you down or the cheap batteries either... Just with my experiences I have had was all I was quoting on.
I put all my electrics in a dirty old tt01 with plastic non oil filled shocks and no ball bearings or anything and I am flogging most and lapping cars 5 times in a 6 minute heat here and they are all running $500 chassis's. So go figure. Its a matter of combonations not just one thing. We could go on for ever but the bottom line is everything has got to be right for your setup and what works for you will most certainly not work for someone else.

Take gear ratio's for instance, I proved it to ppl on monday night just gone that it is driving style that it will come down to if one person can keep the temps down compared to someone else driving the same track layout.
Just goes to show there is more than one thing.
So apologies again if I stepped on anyones toes.
