Hi guys,
Im about to purchase the tao5 v2 mach gogogo, and for now im planning on keeping it mostly stock. but is there any hop ups that is neccesary for handling improvements for a cheap if not good price ( im on a low budget )
I just planning on using it for racing

Bro, take it from a past TA05 v2 owner.....buy a losi jrxs type r.

My ta05 ver 2 upgrades were....front and rear diff alum outdrives, sway bars. When you find out what cvd's cost cause the dog bones are shitty, you are better off buying a jrxs....

For free are:

1. Correct ride height, camber, tweak and droop settings.
2. Build the car smooth, no binding.
3. Accurate steering link setting (car turns equal radius to the left vs right).

Not so free:

1. Correct tires/inserts for your track.
2. Tire traction compound.
3. Set of various springs.
4. Spool.
5. Protoform Mazda 6 body.

spools great for braking. I personally don't like using them, but my team mate swears by it on his TB Evo 5. must be a shaft drive thing.

another upgrade to seriously consider is TRF shocks. best on road shocks in the business.

For me front spool makes the car consistent and easy to drive. Plus you can use brakes to overtake or take a corner at the correct speed.

1. Front CVDs at least, you might find the stock dog bones chatter a lot and vibrate when cornering.

2. ALuminum wheel hexes, allows you to tighten wheels without binding them with the bearings.

If you are tight on a budget:

Front CVD is a must. Get the steel ones instead of the aluminum for durability.

Get yourself some shim (3mm, 5mm, 6m, 10mm) sets. This will remove plays you may have and left over can be use for your next car or what not.

Get a better servo saver than the kit ones.

Get a set of tuning springs from tamiya (you get ex-hard, hard, med, soft). This will help. Get some damper oils (AE is cheap but good).

Get a set or two of tires that's popular at the club you are racing at. Don't bother experimenting. Just ask around and there should already be a preference towards a brand/type.

Spool is a good idea but it will depend on the track. Stick with stock setup then experiment.

If you are upgrading to a TRF shock or any upgrades my suggestion is save up now and get yourself the R version as it comes with a lot of good options already and it'll just save you tons of money in the future. It's never cost saving to upgrade a stock kit.
